Does anyone know anything about this guy?

He is playing in the 4 Bears Casino tournament this week and I have never seen him play.

At least I THINK the photo is Lu Hui-Chan.

We know all Asians look alike, who can tell?:wink: LOL Heck the only way I can tell Alex P from Efren is one is short and the other is missing teeth.

Joking aside, you'll know how he plays once you see him in the tournament hehe. Or is someone trying to get a leg up in betting/calcutta??

Since I am doing commentary at this event, I would like to have a bit more information than, "This is Lu Hui-Chan", a good player from.....I think Taiwan. I am doing my due diligence and seeking help from the AZB community.

Equipment, titles, recent wins, etc.

Nice, then you do want to find out who is who LOL... your second post about "you thinking that it was him" just stuck me funny, the old "they all look like" joke was the first thing that came to my head. Will tune it to listen, don't mess up and call all the shots right!

I Googled this photo and I "think" it is him but since I have never seen him, I can't be positive.

NO ONE makes the correct call EVERY TIME. :D (But I'll do my best).

The truth is there are many ways to play a shot, sometimes commentators make great shot predictions, only to see the player do something entirely arcane. Sometimes the player is successful and sometimes they aren't. It's fun to predict what you think they should do, what they will do and even what they shouldn't do. My record is pretty good against Billy Incardona. ;) Hope he comes to the Ultimate 10 Ball Championship. I want to give him a chance to catch up on the right calls with me. :D

He is from Taiwan. I saw him play in a tournament in Thailand a couple years ago which included Efren, Alcano, Orcullo, Daz, Stevie Moore and others. He didn't win but he can play with the big boys.

That's him, and he can play. The Taiwanese commentators tend to refer to him as raw talent, but "unlucky" in big international tournaments.

I think we are seeing the result of the Chinese sport system here. They must have just gotten interested in pool 20-30 years ago. Started putting away kids in sports camps training and here they are popping out ready to beat anyone in the world. It's not so odd that all of a sudden China, Taiwan, etc.. is coming out will all these world class players out of no-where. Especially the WOMEN, I have seen them play in several matches on YouTube and they will murder just about any American female player, and just plain beat any of them.

They're not coming out of nowhere, you just haven't been paying attention. Taiwan was popping out world champions since the early 90's.

Mainland China is a more recent newcomer to the "American pool" scene.

I think he played under the name Andy Lu and Chang Lee in the recent Montana events, Big Sky Challenge Series. I heard he chopped the high stakes tourney with Mark Haddad,( 16 man 500 entry 8 ball, played on 8ft valleys).
He plays jam up!
