Fischer Table. - 05-08-2012, 06:18 PM

I bought an old 8 ft Fischer table. How do I take the rails off to recover them?

On the Fischer tables that I have worked on,there are side panels that have to be removed to expose the fasteners for the rails. This will allow you to remove the whole top in one piece, take it apart, then strip off the old cloth and install the new. It's a bit different from most other makes of table.

I used an old fisher for the main parts of my table. remove the skirt boards and corner mitres and you will see the rail bolts on the bottom of the slate remove the pocket buckets and unbolt the rails and lift them off. I rebuilt and extended the rails and cut the laminate off of mine and topped the rails with new wood. Then cut new aprons and recut and drilled the rails for leather drop pockets, it plays good for an 8ft. I put diamond black cushions on and simonis.
