Just when you think you know what you are doing.......

Worst pool I have played in 3 years last night. Couldnt string anything together. I played 12 safes in 36 innings due to clusters and missed leaves. My match last week was only 12 innings total (with 3 safes). Got to 74 and my break. Kick in scratch making three and the rest get him to the hill and of course he makes one on his break. Slow torture.

Had APA masters last night. Twoforpool beat me up, 7-4. Went home and licked my wounds. We still have another 3 or 4 matches to play this season, I think, so I'll be looking for revenge!

Got singles regionals on Saturday. Yeehaw, giddy-up and all that.

Play smart and you can win the Regionals. I will be looking forward for the revenge match!!!

Played in my new (new to me) APA 9-ball league tonight.. I played a pretty good shooting 6, and won 17-3 (55-21).. He won the lag, broke and ran out to the 7 (made a pretty nice shot on the 6 but scratched). I could tell right away he was a decent player, so I knew I couldn't afford to take him lightly.. Played pretty well, and was happy with how I shot. Had 2 break n runs and a 9 on snap (Ya ya Ya, I know, it only counts for two stinkin points, lol...).. I felt in total control of the cue ball tonight, and only dogged maybe 2 make able shots.. Very pleased, it was a good night and I think I'll sleep quite well.. ..

Only ended up playing the one make-up match last night, we had enough players to play the regularly scheduled match.

As this was the last of the make-up matches, we were already down quite a bit, so I knew that I had to win a big one to get us back. No pressure :)

I also knew it would be a lower ranked player, due to them already playing more higher players. I ended up playing a 3 that used to be on a different team with me, I know him well, I was fairly confident.

So I'm in decent shape, getting near the end, and he has just 12 points. OK. I'm shooting on the 9, long shot. Shooting with the thought that if I miss, I will leave it up table. So what happened? I miss it so badly that when the 9 comes off the rail, it runs into the cue ball, and gives him an easy shot. The dreaded 4 point swing, now he is at 14. Which is still a 16-4 win, if I get out, and would give us the win.

He breaks, the only time he has broken the entire match....and gets three balls on the break, and a 2 foot shot on the next ball! Sigh.

He makes that one, misses the next, I get out. I end up winning 14-6, and my team loses, 52-48. Another sigh.

That's 9 ball for you...don't sweat it! Our league got cancelled last night due to the weather so my opponent(s) got lucky imo. Now we get to do double jeopardy and play 2 matches next Thursday so I may actually play up to 4 matches total. I better get some sleep Wednesday night. The wife has a scotch doubles APA gig this Saturday for a trip to Vegas. She is a 4 playing with a good friend of ours 6 so I hope they do well.

worst pool I have played in 2 years! because of certain situations beyond my control, I have told captain from the beginning, do not post me after 10 pm....(I have never won a match in 2 years after 10pm)....he posts me for 8 ball at 10 pm...I lose.....then posts my 9 ball at 10:45 against a kid that just started playing......I not only lost but did not win one game! then this morning spilled 1/2 cup coffee on my laptop and fried the keyboard. now having to use my wife's computer.
have a good fckn day!
that goes for my captain too......grrrrrrrr
(oh, found a crack in my 2 month old predator shaft yesterday. I am going into hibernation for awhile......) :banghead:

well last night was interesting - KK9 got "jarred".

we arrive @ 6:30. matches start @ 7pm. a friend whom we haven't seen since Tgiving (cause he's been @ Vegas), is now playing in the League, on another team w/ another friend. 1st game for him. he's warming up w/ the LO. i'm watching. clocking. (thanks to yáll!) i know how Cramer shoots - known him for years. the LO doesn't make ONE ball. i'm shocked! Cramer's shooting 50%. (KK9's shooting 100%)

so 2 of 4 teams are playing on 3 tables. the LO's team isn't playing (damn it!). the LO seats himself @ KK9/Cramer's match. 9ball; race to 5 @ KK9; 4 @ Cramer. the LO is watching like a hawk & taking notes & scoring.

KK9's got a beer. his Captain buys him a shot of Crown. done. no big deal.

at approx 8pm, i'm headed outside to smoke & call people. i'm in & out & watching the LO as i whiz by. at approx 8:30, i stop & ask the LO:

IS IT ALLOWED TO USE MAJIC RACKS?

he says, SURE; NO PROBLEM. I THINK SOMEONE HERE KEEPS ONE BEHIND THE BAR?

i say: YES, THAT WOULD BE KK9. MAJIC RACKS ARE GOOD, CAUSE THEY PREVENT RACK-MECHANICS....

he says: WHA - ?

RACK-MECHANICS.

i go back outside, and in my 10 min absence (as best i have pieced together from the Captain & the bartender & KK9), some NEW guy that NO ONE has EVER seen, buys a round of drinks for KK9 & Cramer during the match & says "he's enjoying watching them play".... the LO has left. (this guy even came outside & tried to chit-chat w/ me - i remember him) KK9 only drinks 1/2 of it.

at 9pm, i am hauling KK9 out & pouring him into the car. and then into the house. he won the matches, after it went hill-hill. (it should have been a shut-out against Cramer, no offense) but he was having to hold onto the table, to simply get around it to get down & shoot - after that complimentary drink....

we know & trust the bartender. we know & trust Cramer. this guy took the drinks from the bar & hand-delivered them to both players....

the bartender said he'd watch Cramer for similar signs. this guy was already out of there when i called @ 9:30. i'll have more info tonight when the hall opens.

i just find it all "ödd"....

PS - KK9 has NO-OOOO recollection after 9pm; barely remembers the match; and is still recovering today. he was slipped something. (trust me - it went down - i know his tolerance) but at least he still won.

This is one of the most frightening things I can imagine. I taught my daughter to be VERY careful in bar situations and she did confide in me that one of her girlfriends was a victim of date rape while in college. WTF is this world coming to?? Leagues are supposed to be fun for Christ sake!

this has been my hall since 1989. NEVER EVER heard of it happening. and yes, i NEVER let my drink (Coke or whiskey) out of my sight.
BUT
this happened to me 3 yrs ago @ Miami. ONCE. at a rooftop party @ my hotel for my furniture show. talking business/orders w/ a guy from NY, who brought me my 1st (and last) drink. thank God, my hotel knew me & took care of me - cause i was ok. but he's got all-lllll of the same symptoms.

i'm just wondering WHO this guy is. who came out of nowhere. and WHY...?

i played double jeapordy last night.

decided to take the mc dermott my gf bought me 2 christmas' ago for a spin. i have played with it off and on but just cant get used to the g core shaft.

big mistake taking it. i faced a good 5 in 8 ball and lost 4-3 because i rattled a shit load of pockets.

faced a 7 in 9 ball. it was one of those ugly wins you guys talk about. my co captain asked me after the match.....how the hell did you pull off that win? he said you must have scratched giving him bih every other inning and still won.

i said .... i musta scored more points than him each inning before i scratched.:grin-square:

oh yea ..... that mc dermott going back in the closet for a couple of months again.

Sounds sort of like my weekend.

Did the singles regionals thing on Saturday and had moments of nice play mixed with a bit of wtf. I felt bad for the guy I had to play first.. who then had a bye on the loser's side.. only to face me again! He began to cry and cry(rolls, shooting, etc) and I almost let it slip away, but I was able to put him out of his misery. Next match, I just couldn't finish a run. Dogged an easy 8 the first rack and it just summed up how I was playing. Oh well!

So, I took it out on my former teammate yesterday, a 6/6. He managed to run a rack after an open break towards the end to save face and I got him 14-6. Played on the same table as last week, but I swear I must've made the CB on the break more than other balls. Made a ball on the break once.. only to have a long bank on the first ball. Made two balls on the break another time, only to scratch. Other than that, nada! He had a few chances in 8b, too, but I scraped out a win with mediocre shooting, resembling more of Saturday.

I know all too well how it feels to take it out on someone. We have to do a makeup this week so I may be playing up to 4 matches this Thursday. I will make sure to snort a line of crystal light to make sure I am awake and alert.

On a side note last night watched the wife play APA ladies league. We banged the balls around for a bit so she could get some reps with her new shaft from DP with the new kamui clear black medium tip...she really likes it so far.

After that while she was playing league I was dinking around with a buddy playing 9 ball...toward the end of us goofing around I put a 3 pack on him (broke dry in the 4th game sigh)...it's amazing sometimes how different I can play goofing around vs in a tournament or league match. I was hoping to tie my best 4 pack but maybe next time!

Satisfying win

I was able to exercise one of my demons yesterday for NAPA League, and it felt great

Back story; My team and myself started playing in National Leagues a few years ago (maybe 3 years now). We've played in a local league for several years, but wanted to try something new out, so we joined the TAP 9-Ball league.. For the most part, everyone was pretty nice and we got to meet a lot of new people, a lot of which have become good friends.... Except for one jackass old timer.. This guy was an a-hole to my team and myself especially (I guess because I am the captain, but I really dont know why) from the first league match we shot against him. Just a real miserable old guy who limped around the table and always had a smart ass comment to make about something.. The sad part is that hes a pretty decent player (I think an APA 7-8, TAP 6 in 9-Ball).
Now, I try to get along with everyone, even if it means biting my tongue at times and putting on the 'Fake' face. But I dont even acknowledge that this jackass is even in the room anymore when I see him (this was after he said to me about 2 years ago, "Are you ever going to get any better").. I just simply hate this guy, and I truly mean I hate him..

So, of course, hes on the team we played yesterday. I was actually just hoping he wouldnt show up, but he did... It was our call in the blind, so I threw myself up, half thinking their captain would put himself up (very good player, I think hes about a 102 in NAPA 8-Ball), but noooooo. They threw up the jackass. I think he was rated a 70 something (78 maybe?). My rating is a bit higher than his, but I still just felt myself squirming as I walked to the table to lag :barf:. I hate this guy, and now hes in my head and I think he knows it at this point ...

I destroyed him. 5-0.

Didnt even play one safe. Didnt want to give him even a tiny bit of room to whine and complain about his ass whopping ..

Didnt need to though, I just shot his lights out.

It was probably the most satisfying win I've ever had in a regular season match... Needless to say, I slept VERY well last night

I have a dilemma with my league team...

There's this guy "T-Bone" <---- yes really.... that was supposed to be our designated sub for our team. I dont really like the guy but I figured what the heck, he shoots strong and it wont be often that I'll have to play with him. Well a couple of months ago we lost one of our teammates to an out of state job...We needed T-Bone to fill in, but he couldn't make it so we found someone else to fill in. Now T-Bone wants to make sure he has enough matches played to qualify for nationals and has openly admitted that he could care less about our team and just wants to ride on our coattails to nationals so he can play singles 9-Ball.

T-Bone has been showing up to a weekly tournament that I run and he makes people completely uncomfortable...He's tattooed from head to toe (rough looking biker dude), loud and obnoxious, he sharks his opponents (both verbally and visually...ie dancing in front of the pocket or just last week he tells his opponent as he's down on his shot "you better run this out"), throws temper-tantrums when he misses/ looses... he just has no class and he's epitome of unsportsman like conduct...(the bar that I run the tourney at has over ridden my ruling to kick him out of the tourney)....

So now I have to deal with this guy on my team...(Here's where my dilemma comes in) I don't want to shoot with a guy that acts like this. Its bad for the teams image, its bad for the teams chemistry and its bad for the teams chances in nationals if all he cares about is the singles 9-ball. Our team captain and T-Bone have been friends for a while so even though I'm co-cpt I'll loose the battle if I try to get him removed from the team. We're in 1st place in our league and I care about our team but I'm thinking about bowing out if this dude is going to be a permanent fixture.

I joined the league because I love pool but this guy will make it no fun....what would you do?

Personally, I would finish the session and then find a new team. If it was real bad, I would also try to limit the amount of time I played.

It's definitely not an easy situation. Good Luck!

I joined the league because I love pool but this guy will make it no fun....what would you do?

when i 1st joined apa i found out quickly i was on a drama filled team. i was asked to join by a girl who is now my g/f.

i stuck it out the 1st session and when it came time to sign up for the next session i told them i would not be returning. when i was asked why was quitting i pulled no punches and said exactly why.

well after it was brought up i find out a few thought the same way i did and left that team also and started up a new team with me joining them.

i would do as krupa suggested and what i did..play it out the rest of this session....let them know you won't be back . you never know... others on the team may have the same opinion of this guy as you do and leave with you like what we did.

btw ... none of those members of that old team are still together. matter of fact some of them don't even play league now.

i wound up taking over this team last year and added 2 players and we went to vegas.

you never know ..the same could happen with you. good luck with whatever you decide.
