Hard Case Tubes - 04-09-2020, 06:45 AM

Does anyone know where to get, or how to make the oval tube form that leather cases use as a primary shape/skeleton for a hard sided-style case? I understand alot of them are PVC, but there certainly doesn't seem to be any commercially available PVC pipes/tubes that come in anything but the standard round form?

I'm sorry to say that I'm not taking any new orders for the next year, I need to concentrate on all the orders that I've taken. Thanks to all the have ordered and to those that have shown interest!

This is the only process I was able to find when I was researching it. This is not the only video I saw, just the first one that popped up.

Been there, done that.

I heat formed a couple.

If you want more you will have to contract for extrusions.

I was close to sourcing some once...it fell through.

Extrusion requires dies, which require blueprints to manufacture and a minimum of five thousand pieces per order.

I'm having pretty good luck by making my own wood molds, and forming 3/32 ABS sheets with a heat gun. Tedious but cheaper than commercial molds and high volume costs.
