Update on the Des Moines pool scene

I agree with you. I was in last week and talked to Dean. I told him I was playing in the Big Dogs tournament and he didn't know what I was talking about. And why would he, I didn't see one flyer posted, or any other info about the tournament.

Well, hopefully there will be a decent turnout, if anyone knows about it.

Which is amazing since Dean is in there 6 days a week.

Justin and I will be playing both, Chance is playing the 1pkt. Not really sure about anyone else.

I said I'm not posting a thing about it unless the cheese gets bumped up. The cheese never got bumped up so I never said anything. Jess said he's 99% sure he's not coming unless him and Jason Chance make a game. They gotta stop being so tight. I couldn't even hit balls on Monday after playing on good equipment and spending the weekend in action, just didn't feel good.

Oh and I'm not playing in either tournament.

That was my point. I don't understand why there aren't any flyers posted in their own building. I guess I also don't understand why they don't add at least what they add to the weekly tournaments. I will still go since it's so close, but I'm sure this will keep a lot of players from coming out.

Assumption you made is they want players! They don't want players, they want the normal drinking crowd to swing it. Very obvious to me that's the case. No player has a shot to even make expenses back without winning both tourneys and then it's close. I predict no one pocket calcutta and maybe an 8 ball calcutta.

It seems counter productive, but who knows. If a lot of people showed up, they'd have to handle more cash, go to the supplier for more stuff, serve more food and drinks.

Who wants those problems...

One pocket Friday, $40 entry, calcutta at 6 pm
Bar table 8 ball Saturday, $35 entry, calcutta at 11 am
$500 added to the 8 ball tournament.

No Jeff, besides facebook is way more fun for the ranting and raving.

I will say that Pet called me and said Jamie called him and said that between Pet's facebook post and my post here, now he ain't paying Pet. That's weak as hell IMO. I go to the pool hall and hear Jamie had a minimum of $300 on him when he lost to Pet.

All I can say is post up, a lot of BS going on. It's hard enough to fade a tough game. Dan Tull was holding about $12k on 2 different occasions this weekend and everyone got paid real fast. It's so bad in Big Dogs Steve Grant quit me cause I made him pay when he was down 4 games and I was giving him the 8 on the big table, know he likes that game. Moral of the story is people just don't want to pay when they lose anymore, I'm still owed $240 in Des Moines that I am certain I'll never get paid. That's what happens when you let people go off and their funds are low.

I'm surprised that is all that you are owed...

Not a lot of actual cash changes hands in Des Moines. I think it is much better now than it used to be though.

Mike i am getting the impression i won't be seeing you before you leave. I am not getting out much. Was a pleasure most of the time knowing you while you were here. Def learned somethings from you!

It's harder to air you for a lot of reasons, my guess is you will never get aired. Partially cause you won't air someone, the other part is what I refer to as the "choke out" factor meaning a high likelihood of getting choked out. Unfair advantage damnit!

I will be at Big Dogs throughout the weekend, cleaning out my house is a biatch but I am close to done. I feel like I hardly bought anything for my house but little stuff piles up fast over years. It was fun with you guys eventhough I am probably stuck quite a bit. My girl is from here so I am sure I will see the pool room people a couple times a year.

Good luck to you with the cards, let someone else win state at some point, and good luck in Vegas(AGAIN!).

I have a gut feeling out of the 4 games either I am going to ERO someone or get EROd....hard to tell which at the moment. Leaning toward game 2 for this to happen.
