"Chalk" was just mentioned in a recent thread. Kim Davenport and Chris MacDonald had bit parts. Am curious how many folks here have seen it. Here's the preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=smh_LDypqc8

I vaguely remember it. Some pretty compelling moments with Chris and Kim, where they elaborated on the life of a pool player. Worth watching just to hear that. More documentary than film in those moments.

Very dark movie. Realistic when it comes to gambling. It's a weird movie, but definitely worth watching. Good luck finding it though. I sold my copy years ago.

Apparently you can still buy it. Although at a dated 17 years, I'd question the delivery.

That's interesting. I never knew there was a website. Someone has to pay for that renewal every year, so I'd say it's legit. I may order another copy. I had the VHS, that's how long ago it was when I first watched it.

Pool Hall Master

If you haven't seen Pool Hall Master, you have to get a copy.

Written, produced, directed and filmed by Joe Santos.

Lots of good players in the movie. Sylver Ochoa is main character.

Check it out - add to your collection.

I don't think Pool Hall master was intended to be a comedy, but it's funny as hell :rotflmao1:

Here is a clip https://youtu.be/uw1p2Pzji3A

It really amazes me that movies like this were able to get investors. I mean, who would pay to watch a movie that is this horrible? This makes late night B movies look like academy award winners. Horrible acting, horrible production values, and a very laughable script. They really need to stop trying to make pool movies.

That looked like our own Melinda Bailey (aka Trigger) in the one scene.

Here is some info posted on the two youtube videos below the trailers.

Trailer 1

Michael (Sylver Ochoa) is a young man wanting to go to the big city to test his One Pocket skills. He makes a hard decision of leaving his girlfriend (Erin Maldonado), his job, and friends behind. He soon finds out that in the big city, things are very different. He meets other great players like April (Melinda Bailey), Jess (Crystal Damon) who is an Iraqui War Veteran who loves pool, "The Gent" (Robert Newkirk) who is so rich he flies his competition in. "The Gent" finally flies a tough competitor from Mexico, Rafael (Rafael Martinez), who makes some unbelievable shots to win thousands of dollars

Trailer 2

Michael (Sylver Ochoa) finds out that Alex could also be a short name for a female. Alex (Heather Lloyd) and bartender (Bonnie Plowman) greet Michael. Michael is then set up to play "Wall Street" (John Hager) in a very tight game. While Michael is playing in some pool halls, two East Coast Hustlers (Corey Deuel and Gabe Owen) are setting up some high stakers. Michael finally meets up with the thugs that beat him up. This time he is not alone.
