I prefer the long, flowy stuff
but I'm curious
who shoots good
and gets good purchase
out of minimal movement?

morro comes to mind..lee van is the man
to a lesser (or more of an) extent, alex-
I think he's got a good in-between thing

who ya got?

Hopkins. End of story.

Chang and Pagulayan come to mind.
I agree that Hopkins may be the besy example. Grady Mathews excelled in his day with a short stroke.

Mark Gray is an amazingly strong potter with a super compact stroke...I’m going on a limb and saying the 2 things are related lol...not really sure how much juice he can get with it but he was a bucket machine in most of the Matchroom events he was in...didn’t do too shabby in Dr. Dave’s BU exam either...

Just saw this thread without having read any. Hopkins and Grady Matthews are the two that immediately come first to mind. I don't believe Mosconi had a very long stroke either, but certainly longer than either of those two. As for current pro players, Alex may have a short backstroke but certainly has a long follow through.
