Wavy Joint help

I screwed up and put a Wavy joint shaft on my radial pin butt. I don't see, or feel any damage when putting the shaft on the Mezz butt. Unfortunately, the owner is wanting a new shaft. That seems excessive to me. Any of you cue makers care to venture an opinion?
I'm willing to have it re-tapped, even though I can't see the need. I guess worse case, I'll buy the guy a shaft and take his and sell it (no worries I'll disclose the history)

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I seem to have a solution. A good friend has the same shaft and is willing to swap it, as long as it checks out.
I'm still curious though. Bear in mind that I know next to nothing regarding cue building and/or repairs.
