about 1962-1963 first met steve on a basketball court st. alphonsus grade school davenport, iowa. i think steve, was attending collage at st. ambrose. it was just a pickup game,when i say pickup game two future all staters and some good local talent. the games were always slug fests,real battles. steve was a little slow but could shoot from the outside,under stood the game and would take one for the team. whenever he went in side he would always have his head handed to him, rough crowd. but that never stoped him steve, had heart. years later the miller-lite comercial came out, i remember thinking thats that kid .how could we heve known we were playing with greatness.
