South West shaft compatibility

I have a South West shaft that’s made in the 2010s which won’t fit a predate South West from the 80s. Is there a difference in pin diameter and how can I get the shaft altered to fit my cue? Already asked South West but I don’t think they will take this on.

The threads seem to be cut deeper on the modern pins

Hi Stan:
Pretty tough to give an accurate answer without having both cues but here's a quick example. The two taps are a little different but not much. A sample female would have to be made to see which one fits best before tapping the shaft. For Southwest to do it, the answer may be more in the question of,
Do they have different taps from yesterday to today, or do they live thread?
