This clip may have been posted before but I hadn't seen it. It shows a young looking Efren Reyes running a couple of racks in a tournament. The first rack has a great masse shot and then Reyes manufacturing a break ball in a way that neither Bill Incardona nor Danny Diliberto saw coming. Also, interesting talk about the Magician during the second rack.

Great match-

He did the same against Rempe in the same tournament, manufactured a break ball really nicely.

a young efren?

god, I feel like it was just yesterday that I watched that video on VHS.

I probably watched it so much the tape was wearing through.

i don't know whats going on in the pool world these days, but if there's anyone who plays anywhere near efren, that might be enough to get me interested in pool again.

I saw Reyes at Reds Billiards around 1984 or so when he first came here and ran through the field like he was playing by himself

That brings back some memories, as I attended (as a spectator) that event. It was promoted by Grady Mathews and hosted by Kerry Herbert at Spot Shot Billiards in Portland, Oregon in Sept., 1995. Efren was 41 then.

Only 14.1

I enjoyed the commentary and some pretty good points were made.
Especially the point about how much 14.1 Reyes plays. (Not much)
I am sure this has been discussed but watching Reyes play I thought
If he played back in the day when 14.1 was king I would have payed
a kings ransom to see a match between Willie andThe Magician
Or vs Crane, Carras, Babe Cranfield, etc.
Reyes plays beautiful 14.1 fluid strokes a great rhythm he's like the puppet
Master and the object balls are the puppets. He has total control of the table.
just amazing.
Thanks for the post

Agree! The posted video was from 1995 I wonder how many times Efren has played 14.1 since then. I remember a third place at the U.S. Open 14.1 Championship in 2000 and second place at the World Tournament of 14.1 last year. Anyone remember him playing in any other 14.1 events?
