Any of you chaps recommend anything specific as a "sidewall" burnish medium for tips?
Thanks in advance.

I use tiger leather burnisher or thin super glue.

Tiger leather burnisher and a piece of leather. I tend to use scraps from wrap installations.

I use three things.

New Dollar Bill, or what ever new bill you have. Thousand Dollar Bills is optional.

Joe Porper Tool, my personal favorite cost $4-5.00/tool.

Tiger Burnishing Leather.

A story, if I may ....

I too use a bill (typically a five dollar bill, we haven't had 1 dollar bills in circulation for a long time). Hadn't needed one for a while and when I did quickly realized that our Canadian bills are now Mylar and useless for burnishing .... it took me a few weeks to find an old paper fin :angry:

Dave <-- keeps that old $5 bill in the box with tips :thumbup:

I've tried the dollar bill, and burnishing leather on an elk master dud, and all it did was fluff up.

Maybe used too much liquid

I usually just lick my fingers a little, and rub it around the edge of the tip. I've not many problems with other brands of tips. I'm thinking i may be burnishing it wrong, by rubbing the leather burnisher length wise on the shaft, instead of twisting the tip inside of the leather. Although it works ok for the LePro, triangle and other brands of tips.

A little spit or finger oil and a piece of leather from an ideally worn out wallet works real well.

A piece of slick,thin cardboard works good too. Tommy D.

Howdy All;

I use a bit of spit applied with a finger tip then either a Brown paper towel or Brown
paper bag. The Brown or raw paper has better friction IMO then White paper.
