A pox on this as well. They never followed through on any of the things they said they would do, like posting videos of the matches.

I am disgusted with the whole 3C establishment.

Even though I am not too happy with the choice of some words in this thread, the complainers have a good point. Those videos should have been up a long time ago, and they're not. I will not bore you with the (many) reasons for that. But I will eat the humble pie and apologize. We'll try to make it up to you. Preparations for a great 2020 McCreery are in full swing, and we have a few surprises in store.

As always

I too as well as many others really want to view the broadcast footage
Your commentary and the broadcast should propel 3c to new levels

As far as I remember, this event is, 'invitational!' And it carries no ranking points for the UMB! Just that the invitation was based on the UMB ranking system! ICBW.

It will be appalling/disgrace if Caudron is NOT allowed to play and defend the trophy!

Well, it was kind of a weird event as things played out. No audience, no multiple streaming of multiple games, no videos after the fact, means that no one really got to see the whole event. I was particularly disappointed in there not being an audience, because I would have gone. Presumably at least some of these things will be better with the new venue.

The fundamental problem was a large mismatch between what was expected based on the pre-event hype and what was actually delivered. Over promising and under delivering is always going to make people unhappy.

I hope the 2020 version will focus on delivering a solid experience of watching great billiards FIRST, before worrying about 'innovations' like colored lights under the tables. Which worries me about these anticipated surprises. I'd rather be able to actually watch the matches, even if it means foregoing surprises. That is the basic deliverable that wasn't delivered in the prior version. Hopefully it will be better for 2020.

But on the larger issue, it is still a crime for the organizations to cause a division in the billiards world just as a little prosperity threatens. I had always been willing to spend a little money to support the sport through a Kozoom subscription and pitching in for acquiring and maintaining the tables at my local senior center, where I play. And I took a trip to the 2nd Bordeaux World Championship where Dani won and at which I had the very great pleasure of meeting and chatting with you. But now I'm pretty disgusted and I've let my Kozoom subscription lapse and do not plan on spending any money on anything billiards, other than to play locally, unless and until the organizations come to their senses. I hope that happens soon. In the meantime I'll have to be content with watching older matches on Youtube.

On the plus side, this discussion motivated me to go re-watch the one McCreery match that is publicly available, the final between Merkx and Caudron. It was a great match - very tight until Caudron took it by the scruff of the neck. It also reminded me how much I like Kurt's commentary, and how unimpressed I was with the 'pro broadcaster's member of the team. I hope for 2020 they keep Kurt and Bert and get a better 'play by play' guy. Assuming we will ever get to see the matches.
