Dale Perrys on ebay.. anyone ever win the auction lol - 10-18-2012, 06:43 PM

not sure if ebay has been having the names of the other bidders blocked out
but i keep trying to bid and win a dale perry from there and cant seem to beat the computer program that keeps winning lol

same names a**r, 2**9, or a ton of different combos of the account name with ***s in it always jacking the price up and keeping me from winning with getting a bid in .50cents higher at the last possible milisecond

ive hit the bid button right on 3 or less seconds and cant win lol

That's why you need to put in your max bid and it will automatically bid in increments when someone else bids and stop at your max..

I just snagged one yesterday. Sorry if I got yours! Keep trying, you'll get one. I almost wish I would have waited on this one though.

This will be my third. I had sold the other two to new league players who have nothing but good things to say about them. I needed a new one so I don't risk my Schon getting stolen while I'm taking a leak at the weekly bar tourney. Can't wait for my new bar beater!

The bidders account ID's are hidden on eBay now, so the names you are talking about above are not real names, or even partial names, just meaningless symbols. Real people are outbidding you at the last second so there is no funny buisness going on with the names. Hope this helps. John

They are most likely using a Sniper. I use MYIBay. Works great. I have mine set to the default at 6 seconds.

When you see the bid change at the last moment, at six seconds, you don't have enuff time to up your bid.

Apparently when you use EBays Max Bid, EBay will over rule a Sniper. Thats what I've read.

Anyway, you just have to play with the bids. I always know what I am willing to pay for an item. I up the bids a bit to get an idea of where the bids are. Then I set my Sniper and sit back and wait.

Someone else might be using a Snipe too so you never know. Using a Sniper Program just helps you a bit but doesn't guarantee you a win.

I've been beat out by a username that never bid once but won at the last moment. Thats when you know that you've probably been Sniped.

Thommy, I am shocked that you know about Snipers.

There's actually a formula to the encrypted names of the winning bidders on ebay. Seller/buyer feedback.

But to the point: DP cues are being purchased all the time (on ebay) by pro shops/billiard distribution warehouses across the land and being sold sometimes at a 100% mark up. ie: bought for $150, sold for $300. I've lusted after a few fancy DP cues, but never bid more that I was willing to spend $xxx.xx and factor shipping.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a retailer beating you out each time you place a bid on a dp cue.

Not claiming to be a "know-it-all" but there's a lot of misinformation on this thread regarding eBay.

If you own a "sniper" program or similar, you've wasted $20/$50/whatever you paid for it. eBay has no such vulnerability. You win if your max bid is higher than theirs, plain and simple. No buts on this one.

As for the user names, there's no algorithm. It's just the first and last character of their username used for anonymity reasons, but if you're familiar with most of the folks that bid, it's pretty easy to see who's who. Never mind the fact that feedback is shown.

I paid $125...over $200 ...and over $250...for DP cues. If you really want one keep trying. Bid $150 maximum and hold. I don't think they are worth any more than that. If you lose a bid....bid again on another one. Here's one. My only complaint is the shaft is nicking easily. I do not think the quality of the shaft wood is very good but I enjoy playing with it. This ran less than $150 shipped.

I talked to a guy selling one at a tournament, he told me I was eating my time if I thought I was going to get 1 for 125 $ . He said he bids on every one. I know on the ones with the upgraded shafts he usually put 150 on them. If you want 1 with the shaft upgrade then wait till the last minute and set about 170$ max bid

If you think ebay isn't vulnerable to a sniper program you are SADLY, SADLY mistaking. Granted, ebay's proxy bid will take prescedence over the sniper program ONLY because the proxy bid was entered before the "snipe" takes place, but I have been using two different sniper programs on ebay for over 17 years now with HUGE success.

You ARE correct in that the highest bid wins, but you are incorrect if you think ebay has no vulnerability to a sniper program.
