Blank was supplied by the customer.
Not an easy wood to work with.
But, the bastard hits pretty sporty.
The shaft is not a flat laminated kind.
That is a real 1-piece super tight grain monster.
I'd put that against your $20,000 cue's shaft. :D
Old school tan phenolic collars.

Oil finish.

Great looking cue! Perfect pin choice too (IMO) and I really dig the maple piece on the butt end. Nice.

Your shaft wood always looks spectacular.

Would you use the good stuff on cues that you don’t make?

Nice looking cue. Don't we all wish nature would provide all the tight grain clean maple we could ever use?
I wonder if there would even be a LD shaft craze if nature had provided it.

Really like how they turned out. If you don't mind me asking, what finish did you use? I've used a number of different finishes in lieu of clear. Danish oil and woodturners finish have worked pretty good for me on a few cues. Always curious what others are using.

Wenge is very pitty.
So, before that last pass ( .005" ) , I coated it with epoxy.
Woodturner's finish then wax.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll go that route next time. I had run into a lot of pitting with a black palm handle cue I made for my Dad. I left it open grain and just hit it with few coats of woodturners and its held up nicely.
