Looks like a brass ferrule, snooker cue.

Pretty sure it's a snooker cue he's holding....although the tip looks untypical large...
...but the butt has a chamfer with a name plate and a flame at the grip end....
....a usual for snooker.

One-of-a-kind is too small for him - he was several one-of-a-kinds during his career.
Judging by the flattened butt it's a snooker cue, maybe with a tarnished brass ferrule - maybe even a joint under his hand? Expensive, judging by the socks.
