Yep, I dropped more than that in the Slots @ the Casino.

I agree 100 % and let's put this in perspective for any of those that don't already know ---- $20 stinkin bucks lololol!!!!! Yup, $20 bucks is all that is in question here that folks are crying over! That's nearly just a couple good coffees, 10 mega millions or power ball tickets etc ( just trying to relate it to the things we spend money on every day and don't think twice about it much less ***** about it lol ).

Ps- that $20 bucks is for when someone goofed and left / lost their badge. I would be elated if any / all my goofs only cost me $20 !!!! Lolol

The customer is always right came from a time when people were as terrible as they are today. We trained them to cry enough and whether they our right or wrong they will get free stuff or money off. People have changed and unfortunately if you want your business to still be profitable your mind set has to change also. Sorry I’ve been in the restaurant business and now retail for almost 30 years. The percentage of people trying to rip you off for every thing they can has dramaticly increased I’m sad to say and look players seem to be the bottom of the barrel :(

...because if you don't cause a problem, there isn't a problem. Been going for 15 years... only missed 2 years, 1 for the birth of my kids and 1 when their birthday fell on it another year.

Every year there are complaints from people who are NEVER satisfied. An event could be perfect and they would complain. So how many times have YOU been to SBE? Why go? Because it is the biggest and the best pool related event on the east coast. That's why!

Someone better tell me who those greedy people are. The vendors there are there because they want to sell something. If you don't like the price, go elsewhere. Allen is greedy? Better check the payouts.

As I said earlier in this thread, if you feel you can do better, go for it!

You guys talking about the money are missing the point. I doubt this has anything to do with the cash.

It's just really disappointing is all. When you support an event year after year you start believing YOU are actually a part of the whole. This illusion is destroyed in one single interaction. It's pretty sad really.

I know...I know....if they let one person sneak by, next year only one person will pay to get in and everyone else will just sneak in with that lone badge.

I guess you didn’t know that in Pool if anyone makes money on the game other then the player they our greedy smh thank god the football, basketball, baseball ,golf hockey etc. etc. don’t feel that way or we would have nor professional sports to watch.

I’ve said it many times ... I hope Allen takes money out of there by the truck load! Every year he has to put I would guess over $50 thousand out to rent the building and insurance before he ever takes in a dime not to mention all the planning an work that goes in to putting together one of the best pool expo’s in the country! It’s 4 days of pool heaven and I personally appreciate it!!

Why are you so angry that he won? Your acting like a child. Did he steal your lunch money, have sex with your wife or gf, beat your kids, kick your dog? Your acting rediculous.

This is a pretty common policy at major industry conferences as well. They may not charge full price but there is usually a significant "badge replacement" fee if you lose it. If you just left it in your room, well... go back and get it.

Was there when Mike won his first major professional tournament. The UPA championship event in Las Vegas at the Riviera. Had seen him at several Joss events through out the northeast. When we saw each other at SBE, he always smiled and acknowledge me or shook my hand. You bet he is head strong. Just don't believe he deserves the negative press he gets or cartoons as another poster added earlier.

wrt the OP

"There's No Such Thing As Victims, Only Volunteers"

Sad that you had some unfortunate occurrences, but do you really expect the whole world to change to accommodate you? Rules are rules. The rest of us had to abide by them. Are you SO special you should be the exception? Good for you that your exercising your personal power of choice so as to not find yourself in similar circumstances next year.

you forget your pass you dont get in simple. you dont get in the movies or shows if you forget your ticket. thats life. and the doorman doesnt have desecration to let people in.
and shouldnt.

its like asking the teller at the bank to make adjustments to your account. you have to have a supervisor there.

the right thing is, oops i forgot my pass i guess i am stuck paying again.

I agree, nothing worse than being denied entry and desecrated by the doorman too.

Nothing was to be given free.

It was about serving a paying customer who proved he had paid but was turned away (!!!) because he didn't follow an exact rule that was meant to keep out the bums, etc. But he had proved he wasn't such a bum, so why NOT let him in and keep him happy.

This thread is but one example of the damage done to the business model. If the owners want that damage, they can stick to their rules and have more of it.

I've been in business for over 36 years now and I know about customer relations and how to ruin those by anal thinking. I made such mistakes and learned from those.

So what that he proved he paid. He DIDN'T prove that he didn't give his badge away to someone so they could get in free. And since we are dealing with pool players . . .

It is a constant source of amusement, in these rants, to tug on the thread and see that at the heart of it is the ranter screwing up in some way and then rather than just accepting responsibility for their screw-up gets all butt-hurt and blames other people.

In the case of the OP, while he managed to stop just short of 'don't they know who I am?' the sense of entitlement is palpable with all the prelude of how much money he spends there. How much, exactly, do you have to spend to be able to ignore the rules everyone else follows?

"So what that he proved he paid."

Imagine that, from a pool player, paying for something and proving it.
