Where are the top Asians? ...
Could visas be an issue?

It is a little early yet. Maybe some of them will be playing in qualifiers. There seem to be more qualifiers (over 60?) than any pro tournament I can recall.

I like her as well, PT. I appreciate her over-all attitude and her seemingly level-head. Plus, the girl can play, as evidenced by her US Amateur win ( which, actually, was @ 5 miles from my front door ). She certainly has her work cut out for her, but then, so does everyone else.

She was second this year too. She also happens to be a brilliant writer, with cutting wit and spot on descriptions of the characters who inhabit her stories.

Wow! Already this many entered? This is amazing! I am very impressed.

It's a Matchroom event, that's why. All Matchroom events are on another level than everything else in Pool. Plus, there is never any question about getting paid.

Oh, yeah, but as this list is sorted by first name, I looked for it in the wrong place. Thanks for the correction.

I would like to see this list redone like a telephone book...family name first......
...it gets hard to follow.

And by this list, Mika is now eligible to play for USA for the Mosconi Cup.

Something like this? (I guessed on some of the non-Japanese Asian names which are usually but not always given family name first. )

You'd think that one of those sharp-shooting Chinese 8-Ball players would want to give this a crack.

So what's the story with the recent US International 9b Open that JL Chang won and this one? I've been out of the loop recently.

So what's the story with the recent US International 9b Open that JL Chang won and this one? I've been out of the loop recently.

The U.S. International 9-Ball Open was the first event by Pat Fleming. He created this tournament. He was unaware that the name of the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship was going to be sold to Barry Hearn by Brady Behrman, et al., when he had made plans to have it in Virginia.

So Pat Fleming decided to keep the pool even in Virginia and changed the name, since the other name was sold. Virginia really is for lovers! Lovers of pool! Yay! :lovies:

Barry Hearn and Matchroom Multisport own the name U.S. 9-Ball Championship and will host the first event under their purview in April 2019.

This is great for pool to have both of these events ongoing.

Gotcha.

So will there be plans for a US International 9b Open for 2019?
I heard that the Sheraton in Norfolk likes the event and wants to have it back. The last I heard, Pat plans to continue in October. It is listed on the WPA calendar for October 28-November 2, 2019.

I agree, Jay. I love her writing style. As a writer, it takes more than just jotting down words on a page to get my attention. Her work has nothing to worry about on that count.
