Dave Jones he lives in Shoreline, WA just north of Seattle :thumbup2:

Very nice, he did a good job. Although your cue was not in bad shape in the first place, this makes the cue closer to what it looked like new, especially the linen. In that era, their linen was only white with green strand, having been in their shop many times.

All the best,
WW

Doc

You should check the birdseye pattern in your cue & compare to the original in the brochure. You might have the one pictured!

A couple more Danny Janes Block Letter cues from that same era...

Both cues are from the same time frame 73-74. The one on the left did not have a logo originally, so it was probably from the time he didn't put a logo on. The one on the right was early when Dan was probably learning to engrave, hence why its a little rough. Great pics of those two. Always loved the blue veneers on that one. Dan said this was one of the most popular designs of the 1970s era cues.

Here's a somewhat fancy Danny Janes build ~ Bill Stroud believes it was built around 1974-75

FYI, all your old posted "PHOTOBUCKET" pics don't work anymore :(

Nice cue here too! PHOTOBUCKET has ruined this thread! I'm going to have to upload some new pics to get it going again!

Is it the second of this model, Doc? Nice cue.

All the best,
WW

I believe it is. That's the Model 2 from the Diamond Series.

The catalog shows a thin black ring between the butt cap and the butt sleeve that mine does not have. I expect that's just a minor variation and that this cue is actually that model.

Yep, that was a good period for Joss cues. This is 1981 to 1982. I believe the other minor variation was they were not using black wrap at that time. As always, this could be an exception.

All the best,
WW

The wrap on the cue is filthy. It is a spec wrap if you look close in person...I would have to clean it to see exactly, but it isn't a black wrap.

As far as the dates, some of the designs in that catalog pre-date the catalog and were produced way before.

Get out the water and bleach, Doc. And go slow. You'll be able to tell what kind of wrap it is.

All the best,
WW

My favorite cues

Finally got a chance to lay them all out for a photo op.
Right to left:
- My first Joss, bought in 1983. Bill Stroud replaced ivory joint & cleaned it up for me about 10 years ago. https://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=2848545#post2848545
- Picked this up at SBE about 3 years ago. Dan Janes engraved new logo for me.
- Last two I picked up last year.
