I don’t know if it is counterfeit but the seller was asking $950 which seems like a lot of money for that cue.
There are bound to be some knowledgeable Az members that can give you some insight if it looks original.

all tribute cues are just fakes or so called counterfeits of the original makers. its a nice way of saying we are stealing your work and copying it since you dont have a patent on it.
it is somewhat okay as the family okayed it. and they arent passing it off as anything but a copy.

but it probably is a decent cue that wont go up in value.

It's not a "fake" as far as it is what it is, but if you think they are saying it's a real vintage Balabushka, that it is not.

You asked......I’d say under $800 but almost a grand ($950),
well, that seems too high but it is not my money so go for it.

If you get it for under $800 or even that, it seems reasonable.
$950 would seem right if it had two shafts but not with just one.

Cue is not fake and Thanks guys for Clarification on that. I spoke to the Guy who owns Competition Sports who ordered the cue line and had them built. He had Adam / Balabushka in Japan build 50 of the Tribute cues and 50 of the Hall of Fame cues. So these are pretty rare and I doubt you could find another in Brand new Condition. If you ever wanted a Willie Mosconi Balabushka tribute cue and don’t wanna spend in the Thousands then this is your cue. The Japan cues play as good as any a Production cue ever built. If interested pm me with a offer thanks

I use one of these Lou Butera tributes as my main player.
Have it with two shafts.
I've gone through a good bit of cues but this is the one I always come back to.
They are great playing cues.

The protectors are just plain wood 5/16x14.

You can buy fancy wood versions on ebay for $50 to $100 right now.
There’s several to choose from for $50 so really those aren’t worth a lot

The original Adams cues are better quality than the ones made in China.
It is a nice cue but it’s collectible value just isn’t what some are imagining.
But you sure don’t want to think the protectors add significant value to the price.

Strike a deal that seems fair and get the cue. The seller wants you to get it,
you want to buy it so don’t listen to me or any others. Talk with the seller and
I’m sure you can figure something out but don’t look for a bargain. It is not just
any old catalog cue but it sure ain’t the Golden Fleece either. Buy it if you like it.

It's a nice cue. Probably well-made, and will play good. I often wonder why people say the JAPAN made Adams were inherently superior to the ones made in China. Who has toured each factory and identified what construction processes changed/were inferior in China? Chinese factories make quite amazing cues these days. Period.

Also note, every cue doesn't have to be a financial investment (retaining value, etc). That's only the rhetoric you will hear from cue dealers.

You can have a lot of fun playing with it, it looks really nice in its classic styling, and you might win some money!

Enjoy it!
