It's funny, as the article states in opening so often people don't regard the "brainpower" of athletes.....

I have seen the opposite in medicine and surgery. People think "oh your smart"..... I have done rock climbing (free climbing), mountain biking, MX, BMX, freeriding, trials with and without motor :wink:, adventure racing, Aikido, Taekwondo, I'm a certified diver, etc, etc..... The most physically demanding this I have ever done in my life is surgery, by far.

I tell my medical students when they complain of exhaustion that during intense concentration they are burning calories like an athlete on the field. And these kids (I see them as kids) go for 12, 24, 36, 48....even 72 hours...... They get tired of me asking did they eat, hydrate, sleep, take a break, etc.....

In athletic performance you can't separate the mind and body.
