Arrow Got The Big One ** - 09-16-2018, 01:11 AM

DELL announced 1st generation M6800 , 9/2013.
Became available, 2/2014.

I know this is a Monster, but it's easy to break down, take apart, put together, upgrade, downgrade.
MSFT 8.1 Pro, Multiple HDD @ 7200rpm, Dual Terabyte SSD, Extreme Processor and Back-lit keyboard which I wanted forever.
I can run CAD software in here. (performance Blu Ray)
I've been after this model for a long time, arrives next week, can't wait to try it out.

I just dont understand the excitement over a laptop.

Russian Magic chalk is the nuts.
Its so good my last and only cube was stolen off the table when I went to the bath room.
They left my $1000 cue but stole my chalk, how strong is that?

It is in a slightly different category than a laptop dance.

I am still using my M6400, it was the last one with a 16:10 A/R display. 16:9 is fine for a TV, but a computer needs the extra vertical real estate!

Very nice setup! You can't go wrong with a Precision! ...just keep windows10 away from it!!

I'm still running 7. In fact, since my laptop has a i7 quad core it's fast enough so I just swapped the hard drive to a Samsung ssd last month. I don't want to mess with a new operating system.

Does windows 10 suck that bad?

I'm still on 7 for my desktop (as was current when I got it).

Why was there no MS 9 system, some ask?

Because 7 8 9. I'm not an expert on that, but an IT guy told me.

Windows 10, currently, is pretty good. With that said, Windows 8 is horrible, 7 is awesome, in the old days xp was awesome.

There is absolutely nothing good about windows 10. M$ has sank to the level of google with uncontrollable (user-end) crapware/spyware (aka CEIP; customer experience improvement program), phoning home tattling on you (telemetry), forced updates, updates breaking things (arguably intentionally), forced 'app store' purchases, and so on.

ANyone standing on the 'privacy platform' knows better than to use 10. I'll run Win7 into the ground, then server 2012 r2 carved into a workstation OS.....but if a time comes when from M$, 10 is all there is, M$ and I will part ways. This is coming from an almost 30 year IT professional and someone who was a staunch Windows supporter...but M$ has really gone to the dogs the last ~5yrs, and sadly I no longer trust them. I have tried for over a year of experimenting with 10, but have never been able to make it 'shut up'. Disgraceful.
