He may or may not be a good instructor but I believe that a "good instructor" MUST be able to demonstrate the skills they are trying to teach.

To be a good instructor, you don't just need to master the skills you're trying to teach.
You need to be able to communicate effectively, and know how to work with people.

This guy already fails 2 out of 3, so at this point, who cares how well he hits balls?
I'd never sign up to hear what this donkey has to say.

I had the following incident happen yesterday, not by any means an unusual exchange. Just to preface it, I'm trying to beat my own personal best at straightpool after some time off from the game, and I'm taking it really seriously. The player in question knows this. So I'm on a run of 40 something balls and really starting to get into the zone, when this jackass comes over:
"Hey (name redacted), that was a very nice shot. I've been having some trouble with it but you seem to get better action on it, how did you shoot it?"
Me: "I'm on a run, can we talk after?"
He: "Just really quick, how did you shoot it?"
Me: "The breakshot?"
He: "Yes"
Me: "I shot it high with a touch of inside, but I suppose I could have used just high. I just like putting a little bit of inside on my high shots."
He: "Well I talked to (arguably my country's greatest player) and he said you should always use outside on those shots, so I think I'll just to that.
Me: "Well, if you allready knew how to shoot it, why did you ask, and why couldn't this wait until after the run was over?"

Though I didn't let on I was angry, I got so pissed I missed my next shot. Seriously what the f is wrong with people?

Morons....that's a Fats one liner. " I learned everything I knooooooooooooooooow from morons'', I do just the opposite.

I remember the quote a little bit differently:
"You don't learn from pros, you learn from idiots. Watch what they do, then don't do it!" I don't know which quote is right, but the one I wrote is one of my favourite ones, and I'm not going to let any facts get in the way of a good story. I think Fats would approve. :) Fats sure was a funny guy. I wish I could have met him in person.

This just in:

Who’s your teacher? Among the “universe of instructional video material” available, Tenderloin Tony is very happy this one is once again available. He welcomes your feedback: “I welcome All Players to review this, give it to their Instructors and request that their Instructors Review it. I would quit paying them until they learn how to aim as well as teach the correct method. Before anyone starts paying an Instructor again I would recommend You have the Instructor Demonstrate that he can “Beat the Ghost” Playing 9 Ball with the correct rules that count a Scratch on The Break as a Loss.”
Good Luck and Good Instruction, Compliments of Tenderloin Tony.

Wasn't that the guy that allegedly ran off with the prize fund from a tournament, years ago? I remember reading it on here. Can't remember when or what tournament it was, but I distinctly remember him being accused of something of that nature.

I'm not sure, but since a court found against him and told him he must pay the "winners", I think you can legally drop the "allegedly" part.

It was the last gasp of the USPPA -- a handicapped tournament system that had a many-year run in this area with a lot of successful tournaments -- at the Peppermill Casino in Reno, unless I misremember. Where is BumpyPickle when you need him?
