Scarcity of in Depth Derby Updates

Are all internet devices being confiscated at the door at the Derby? Each year there seem to be fewer & fewer in depth updates at the Derby. I understand that the gambling is under the radar. Hopefully that info will show up later.

Unfortunately, the Louie Roberts Banner was removed. Silly. What are they going to do, bust everyone after the fact?

I thought this myself. Also heard there are internet problems there and the casino wants money to get on their Wi-Fi. They probably have the place lined with aluminum tin foil to black out anybody's cell carrier service.

I thought the days of charging for Wi-Fi in hotels was a thing the past. I guess I was wrong.

They were doing a series on news radio last week about the lack of patience our society shows these days...said people start getting agitated if a video doennt play in 26 sec...webpage load in 14 sec...there wer more findings too, bordered on the interesting.

So where the hell are the gawdamn updates?!:angry:

It's a huge mistake for the tournament organizers not to provide timely updates and more information. Their thinking -- like so many organizations -- is probably "if you want to know, then attend the event," without realizing that updates, etc. are the best advertising they could do to get people to future events. Build interest in the event in any way you can, and the people will come.

But if you keep it a secret...it will remain a secret.

I thought I'd get real interested in the Derby. But it's turned out to be kind of a ho-hum. Out of sight, out of mind.

Those of us at the event are normally too busy watching matches to give in depth up-to-the-minute updates. But you all will get the annual reviews from Lou Figueroa and SJM, most likely.

I agree, way too much going on to give a lot of updates, I appreciate the updates when I return from the Derby, but I see why we don't get many, there is action in every room and you have to hustle just to keep up. Tom

Hey, Freddie, good to see you at the DCC. Just wanted to mention: I have no plans to write up a trip report.

I go to the derby every year since the first one and I treat it like one of my vacations (which it is) I play, I gamble, I sweat the action, I bet on a lot, I buy sell and trade high end cues, and I sleep in... The last thing I would do on my vacation is update daily happenings on AZ...:D Please forgive me.
