What would you charge for a new cue with the following:

Highly figured Macassar Ebony forearm
6 points each with 2 re-cuts
Wrapless handle highly figured curly birdseye maple
Gaboon ebony butt sleve
200 silver dots
72 ivory inlays
27 short silver lines/curves
8 silver rings
4 shafts with ivory ferrules
12" screw in birdseye extension
plain black delrin joint protectors

I am curious, if you were to built something with this level of work, how long would it take and what might you charge?

Thanks in advance

I am wondering why you want to mix Gabon (Gaboon) and Macassar Ebony - they likely won't match.

And I agree - this design calls for a lot of time and materials - it will not be inexpensive - and it will take a long time for someone to complete.

BTW - be sure to check your PM's as stating pricing is not allowed on this forum.

Good Luck - I hope everything turns out well for you and the CM you choose.

what's a long time...6 months, 1 yr, 3 yrs?
What is a lot...$2000, $3000, $5000, $7000?

Go ahead.....run for it.

Why not just use all Gaboon? Like Gary said, they wont match, and the difference in price is peanuts on a big cue like this. And for Ricks sake, Ill do it for $8499. Lol.

Joe

p.s. Just kidding, I cant build this cue. Just to be clear.

Hi,

Who's is we'll?

Is not this thread hypothetical concerning price. I though he had a cue like this and was trying to get an idea about price and pick the minds of CMs.

I'd certainly make the ebonies match as stated earlier but change the joint protectors to a custom set to match the cue. Don't use Betty Crocker icing on a chef's cake.

Here are pics of the cue in progress. As you can see, the macassar and gaboon ebony work because gaboon is the center re-cut in the points. I was not looking for quotes, I was trying to pick the minds of cue makers to try and determine if my cue maker was taking a reasonable amount of time, and if he was charging me a fair price. I think the time was reasonable but the price he is charging is unfair. I think I should pay more. The cue is now almost complete with the additional silver dots now inlayed into the ring sets. (not pictured)

LOL! :D

I love air cooled Porches. When I was young and crazy I put a 911 motor in a 914....essentially making a 916.

As far as I am concerned if it has water in the motor it ain't a Porche....:p

Oh...and that cue is seriously good looking.

Did you fail to notice the part about:
