4 small runs

There have been so many high runs by members of this forum, I have been embarrassed to poke my head out.

Nonetheless, I had what, for me, felt like a pretty good outing on Thursday during league matches at the Illinois Billiard Club and I wanted to share with my peeps.

Two matches I was going to 100, my opponent to 80. In the first game I ran a 31 (http://www.facebook.com/dmgwalsh?ref=profile#!/video/video.php?v=329881841495&ref=mf ) (http://vimeo.com/10010879) a 27 ( http://www.facebook.com/dmgwalsh?ref=profile#!/video/video.php?v=330096701495&ref=mf ) and http://www.veoh.com/browse/videos/category/sports/watch/v19861787jrhKAxSD. I think he got to about 20 or 30.

In the second game, my first shot, I ran 17 and missed a very easy shot with many balls open on the table. I then settled down and had a 20 ( http://www.facebook.com/dmgwalsh?ref=profile#!/video/video.php?v=330935346495&ref=mf ) ( (http://vimeo.com/10010906)) a 26 ( http://www.facebook.com/dmgwalsh?ref=profile#!/video/video.php?v=330167576495&ref=mf )OR ( http://vimeo.com/10010879) He may have got to about 30 or 40 in this match.

Anyway, although I am not raining 70s like someone we know, I am slowly moving forward, and am somewhat happy with my modest runs.

I hope to match you soon, ball-running machine :) Frankly, making it over 30 would be great for me for the time being.

These are good runs... nothing modest about them. Especially, when you can start running 20's and 30's back to back to back, etc... that's a sign of good consistency.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice, Dennis. As I've stated before, run a consistent 25 or 30 each time you have an opening and you're likely to be competitve with most anyone.

Thanks

Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I still need to work on that stroke, but things are going a bit better. Marop just went through a review with me of all of the runs and pointed out a few mistakes.

Back to the salt mines tonight. 2 matches with Rich93 at Red Shoes. :grin-square:

I could cry, but grown men don't weep, do they?

Yesterday, playing Half-Fast Larry, I ran 15. That was 9 out of one rack, a good break and 4 more out of the next. What makes me wont to cry is the shot that I missed. No great distance, just about a 45 degree angle cut along the long rail into the corner, and I jawed it. The table was wide open. However, I was down 34 points at the beginning of that run and I came back strong from that point and won the match, and I don't beat Larry very often.

Dennis you are hitting the ball really nice and your patterns look good. Keep stroking buddy you will have many postable runs if you keep playing like that.

Your hard work is paying off.

Rich93 is trying out his new goggles and ass weights tonight .... you're in trouble!

They looked nice on you, Rich.

I went 1-1. 22 in the first. 26 in the second but Rich took the middle of game 2 with a 20 something and 3 consecutive 13-1, or 14-0 racks. I mounted a little comeback when he needed 3 and I probably needed 30 or 40 but came up short.

Sorry. For some reason, my conversions haven't been accepted by Veoh or AZBTV lately. I don't know why.
I hope it won't last. Or when you run some over 60 I won't be able to view it either (I'm not into Facebook too)

Very nice outing Dennis. It gives me hope to see others are making some progress in their games. I don't play league, but have been improving my runs in my basement against my son. However he is also improving & at a faster pace the I. I still beat him most of the time but not all of the time. Won't be long before the tables are turned & it does my heart good to see him making strides in his game.

having watched your 27 run Dennis I have an observation. I'm by no means a distinguished player myself but hope that helps you top the heights you set for yourself. First, I noticed you should keep working on what Blackjack pointed out in your evaluation video: try to keep your head still on every shot. Last, watch this clip. I think once you eliminate such moves form your stroke you gonna improve rapidly. Your stance is rock solid until you are about to hit the cue ball. I see you go away with it more often than not, but if it is gone I'm sure you won't regret. I noticed you tend to utilize this move on draw shots - I suggest you take draw drills from PAT system and practice it until you show good result on Level 4. Some time ago it helped me a lot to get proper feel for a draw shot. It would keeps your elbow also, because without smooth stroke the drill won't be done.
Nice play overall, you played very good on that side pocket break shot. If you manage to produce runs like that with your current fundamentals I think you can double if you improve them. Waiting for more runs to watch!
