I’m done setting up this table. But the fine tuning and maintenance is not fun with all the shimming because of the fixed legs.

What are some good ways to make the legs adjustable pls? I thought I saw some threads talking about it but I can’t seem to find them now.

Thanks much.

I have a 9' olhausen with the basically same legs. I made a set of leg levelers for mine. I will post a pic or two tomorrow. I bought 4 of 5" round steel plate 1\4" thick only cost 16 dollars and free shipping from seller on ebay by the name of kylharn he sells custom steel targets also. Bought if i remember correctly fine thread 7/16x20 bolts and nuts 4each. Already had 3/16" steel plate so i cut 4 pcs square about same size as bottom of legs drilled 4 holes in each corners of the plates just big enough to use #12 1.5" metal roofing screws. I centered the plates on the bottom of the legs disassembled of course. Screwed the plates to the bottom of the legs then marked center of the plates. Then i drilled hole all the way through the plates and mdf wood at the bottom of the legs size bigger than my bolts. Took the legs and 4 bolts and nuts and the 4 round plates to a guy i know because i cant weld. He just run the nut down on the bolt stuck the end of the bolt down through the hole i drilled then tacked the nut to the square plates screwed out the bolt finish running arc around the nut. Then he marked center of the round plates and welded the head of the bolt to the round plates. He only charged me 30 bucks. Heavy duty leg levelers with a fine adjustment on the feet. Hundred times better. once i got my frame leveled the playing height came out at 5/8" above bca specs on unlevel concrete floor. Not bad.

This is a great idea for how to solve the problem. In welding what his friend did is called a 'weld nut' and is useful in lots of applications.

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'd use a grade 8 steel nut and mild steel round plate so it'd be easier to weld than other materials (aluminum, stainless).

The base of those Olhausen legs are particle board, unfortunately.. Though, I have seen them drilled, with a t-nut inserted, allowing the installation of a leveling foot. In time, the foot will "sink" into the particle board. I wouldn't dare do that for a 10' table.

However, there is no reason that you can't remove the particle board, replace it with a solid piece of wood, then go the t-nut route. Just keep in mind, the table will sit a fair distance higher than it should.

I think my table might have been custom built modeling after Olhausen for at least these reasons:
- trim pieces at top of legs are not exactly like those on my other 2 authentic Olhausen’s (these have Olhausen labels on them). Legs on mine have 3/4” plywood bottom, not mdf
- the cross beam supports are more ridged, with more 2x6 members than other 2.
- top is covered with 1x4’s & 1x6’s instead of plywood

So what I did was to cut off the bases, make the whole legs about 1”-1 1/4” shorter. Then install another 1 1/8” plywood inside the box about 1 1/2” from bottom. The rest I follow jlrowe’s suggestions:
- buy 4” round, 1/4” thick steel plates from eBay (12 for $20),
- 1/2”-20 x 3 1/2”grade 5 bolts & nuts
- weld bolts to round plates, nuts to another square plates (I think it was also 1/4” thick, but 3x3 or something from my construction left over stocks)
- screw & gorilla glue the square plate & nuts to the bases

Wow! my friend i didnt see this until now. Turned out great! Heck of a lot better and more accurate than trying to shim the legs to get it level.
