On this link, Pat mentions the addition of the following tournaments to the main attraction:

32 man one pocket event
16 man Bigfoot event
x man juniors
x woman juniors

I like it. Maybe he will open up the tables for challenge matches as well? Although probably not enough tables with the new additions...

Do you guys think this will make it harder to win any event? If the top contenders enter the main event, the one pocket, and the Bigfoot, they will be quite tired. Maybe some top contenders will sit out the side events, and focus only on the main 9 ball event.

Thoughts?

Relavent snip from article:
Upon its return, the 2020 INTERNATIONAL OPEN will be a 160-player 9-BALL OPEN field with a reduced entry fee of $500 and $50,000 in added prize money.

The inaugural 32-player INTERNATIONAL ONE- POCKET INVITATIONAL will have an entry fee of $300 and $5,000 in added prize money.

In partnership with Diamond Billiard Products, we will stage the first INTERNATIONAL BIG FOOT CHALLENGE. This 16-player event will have a $500 entry fee and $8,000 in added prize money.

Ra Hanna, owner of On The Wire Creative Media, will be bringing back the Junior’s Championship. The 2020 Junior Invitational Championship will have both a Junior Men’s AND a Junior Women’s division.

I think stamina is a very minor issue here, as the Big Foot can be handled to add just one match per day to a player's schedule if managed with care, and assuming that (at least most of it) is completed in the first few days, before the business end of the nine ball.

These players are used to playing a lot of pool. At the Derby, for example, the elite probably play an average of ten bank pool matches, ten one pocket matches, and ten nine ball matches, as well as action matches and midnight minis, all in just a nine day period. By comparison, the International as proposed is a rest stop.

Hence, I don't think participation in the Bigfoot will compromise anyone's chances of succeeding in the main event.

All I know is pool without action is no better than horseshoes.

Professional pool needs events like DCC. Sucks Diamond couldn't pull off the plan for 4 or 5 a year in casinos. Hoping someday it happens. Could hold 2 a year in the Northeast.

I like the one pocket price point, not only 32 players though.

It's right at that point where lower level players could afford it, but not the usual $1k where you are virtually guaranteed the same fields.

Joe...It's at the Norfolk VA Sheraton Waterside...the last 10 days in Oct. I was there the whole time for the first year. It was excellent. Pat does a great job, and this should be even better, with all the different events! Best get your hotel room soon, if you want to stay at the tournament site.

Duh...I should have known that, with all the other things being postponed or cancelled. It must have happened just recently.

Yeah everything is being post poned, I was thinking of going for the one pocket session. I used to go to the US Open every year and got to know a lot of great restaurants up there. The food is reason enough to go.
