hey Honey! hope you're on the road to recovery?

(i need to preface this for everyone else, that regulars don't ever pay table time)

yea, i caught that after we got got home. and again, today. i've got yáll's back from here on out! i was warming up w/ Josh @ next table, and missed the crowd & interruptions part.

League shouldn't be this hard.

this is it's 3rd session (10 wks/session). and already 50% have/will have, quit. that includes the local APA League. the LO (APA & UPA) needs to stop being oblivious. and the members need to realize that the payouts, with the lost teams, alter the payouts....

i see our League, much like Am Rotation, short-lived. we had more fun & less cost/time/stress, when we were just all shooting pool & swapping $$ with our friends.

PS - did you catch the part where Steve came close to meeting God? KK9 saw A WHOLE NEW SIDE OF ME last night....

.

I'm doing noticeably better today than I was yesterday, so hopefully this mess will be over with in a few days. I plan on being back for 8 ball on Tuesday.

I'm inclined to agree with you about seeing our League as short-lived." the LO (APA & UPA) needs to stop being oblivious"... you couldn't be more spot on about that one from what I've seen. David says the same thing, that the main thing he sees wrong is that things are happening, but nothing is being done.

LIke you, I also miss the days of old when we put our $$'s on the table with people that we played against every week and weekend. We all respected each other, took the wins with the loses, and win or loose we all enjoyed the game to it's fullest. We didn't need officials and rarely were there any arguments or disagreements during a money game. I lost count of how many times I went home when the sun was just coming up after playing all night long.

I heard the part about KK9 seeing a different side of you. LOL... what happened is not funny at all, but I love that... "Steve came close to meeting God".
I understand that there were some words said about you and as I consider myself somewhat of a gentleman most of the time... that's the kind of stuff that pushes my buttons when some punk says something rude or crass about a lady... particularly in her presence.

Anytime that you and KK9 want to come over to our place, shoot on a very fine GC-IV and drink, have a good time and some old fashion billiards play... just let me know and we'll set it up.

I'll see you both on Tuesday night (hopefully fully recovered or close enough to it).

Take care sweetie and tell Matt to just shake it off and lets go take some 5-0 matches.

We lost in the first round of the tri cup yesterday, pretty disappointing. My Sl4 and my SL2 couldnt be there for the first round due to work, so that didn't help. Still, we played a competitive lineup, and had our chance. It was a good match.

First match, 5 vs 5 (me). I win 2-0.

Second match, another 5 vs 5, they win, 2-0.

I throw my SL6, they throw off with SL3, we win 2-1.

They throw SL6, I counter with SL3, they win 2-1.

So we are tied in the last match, their SL4 vs my SL3. (See, this is where not having my SL4 for the first match of the day hurt.) It comes down to hill-hill, and they pull it out for the match win. Couldn't get any closer.

Oh well. Try again :p

Tough and close match dub, get them next time. I have league in 4 hours if I want to play today. I am debating that or going back to bed now since I played poker for about 7 hours last night lol.

Pool or sleep...that is the question...

sorry to hear that dub. but as in my case you can look at it as there is always next year.

8 ball tri cups were completed last night. 9 ball is still going on today. our 8 ball ltc is in 2 weeks...june the 13th. 9 ball ltc is the following weekend.

hope fully at least 2 of the 3 players who dropped off the team will still play in our ltc. i have not contacted them yet.

on a side note.. a real good 4 who played on our team last year asked to rejoin the team...i told him yea.:grin-square:

he starts tonight but i gotta work tonight.....1st sunday night i have had to work in 30 years .

Our APA City Cup 9-ball match started at 1pm on Saturday.
They won 51-29 after the 4th match; I lost my match 13-7.

Both teams played horrible. No B&R's or 9 on the snaps in four matches.

They just played slightly less horrible lol.

I must have scratches 10 times or more. My opponent only broke a few racks and he never ran more than 3 balls in a row. I just couldn't get it together, it was pitiful.

Had a great week last week in 9ball. My team has been in the lower half of the standings all session, we somehow got the draw for the wild card after a late surge, then won the playoff to get an LTC qual. I'll be going to Vegas for Masters anyway, but I'm really proud of the team for stepping up in a big way.

On Sundays I have afternoon APA 8&9 Ball league and an evening straight pool league at Raxx in West Hempstead. I missed the APA as I marched in the Israel Parade with the NYPD up Fifth Av.(I'm retired NYPD) I did make it to Raxx though. I found out I was playing Rich, an older guy who is the coolest, slowest, most deliberate player I've ever seen!! As I'm basically a "D" player and Rich is really good I got a 94 to 33 race handicap. The last time I played him it was 105-30 so I guess I improved since then.
I lost the coin toss and had to break. I thought my break was a really good safety but was wrong as he ran the whole rack so I'm down 14-0, with my only turn was the break!! When I racked the other 14 he got the last ball in BUT called safety so it was spotted and I again had to break a full rack!! When he got 70 I only had 13. I buckled down and started playing good and only lost by 5 points, 94-28, breaking my streak of winning the last three weeks. Oh, well, there's still the Mega Bucks League on Wednesday!!

did you call that?

we came in third. A few of my guys are blaming the Valleys at our home room....think we need 7 foot Diamonds...

What good will Diamonds do us in our home room, not that the owner will get them anyway.
No other place we play in our division has Diamonds.

Jeff, that sounds like fun!
I would give anything to have a straight pool league here.
Actually, would be nice just to have someone to play straight pool with.

this has already been approved by the LO, and the conversation went a little something like this -

ME: i'm gonna play next TUE 8B, ok?
LO: cool! that's great!
ME: but i need to reserve the right for my "älternate", due to my tendonitis.
LO: not a problem. i know you can't break. not a problem.
ME: cool! see you then!

(my alternate, is SCOTT LEE)

was supposed to work tonight but job was cancelled.

played in my sun night double jeapordy.

with us losing our highest handicapped players this session my g/f has been throwing me out against all high handicapped opponents. that is gonna kill my win / loss record.:(

just because i beat a 7 and an 8 last week don't mean i can do it every week. played the same guy in both 8 and 9 this week ...he is a 7/7.

lost 8 ball 5-2... lost 9 ball 55-36.

Hey lolrrider :)

Serious Q (and for anyone else). What's the strategy for how you make a lineup?

Many different schools of thought here. Some teams like to match up, ie - best against best and so forth like that, some would rather match opposites, you put up your best and I'll throw my lowest S/L. Personally, playin in the APA, I feel like I can get my teams to go at least 4-1 every week. Only because I know there is likely to be one mis match every week. Of course, it doesn't work out all the time, that human factor seems to loom large. In our division we've all been playing each other so long that we all have a pretty sound stratagy on how to play each other. In LTC or NTC for teams we're not familiar with we always try to get the first match and take it from there, or make them waste their best player on our slowest.
Like I said, many different schools of thought. But one thing I always keep in mind, especially in team tournament play, statistically, the team that wins the first match wins the team match about 70% of the time.
