This is out of lieu of billiardshot's responce of having more members posting about Carom Billiards:

What is usually better when applying English (or side) on a cueball: Back-hand English or Parallel English? What does it do to the cueball on both? Deflect (squirt) or does it curve? Please let me know. Texas Carom Club (Richard) I know you told me about this last year, but I was a bit oblivious to listen to it, so I am damn sorry. :(

I don't think I know of 1 TOP carom player tries to emulate the difference between the 2 mentioned approaches. I advocate a, "Straight follow-thru that is appropriate for each shot chosen!" "The cue must be delivered in a perfect vertical and horizontal manner!"

Back-hand, front-hand has NO bearing IMHO in 3 cushion! Playing each individual shot with the correct, timing, tempo, speed and stroke is essential.
