Probably for a magnetic cue ball return on a coin op table.

Doesn't look like it would roll straight...

I imagine it is made for a table with a magnet in the ball return, so that the cue ball comes out at the head of the table and not in the tray with the object balls.

I do realize it is a coin op magnetic return ball. I just never seen one done like this. Or done so badly!

I don't like making plans for the day, because then the word "premeditated" gets thrown around in the courtroom.

I'll be damned! I wondered how common the steel wire was. More common then i thought.

saw a bar table ball break many years ago - 10-13-2019, 03:21 AM

I saw a bar table cue ball break many years ago. It had a section of pipe or tubing in it reaching almost side to side of the cue ball. Like this, it didn't look like it would balance. Apparently the weight of the metal and the cue ball material isn't that much different, I don't remember an issue with a bar table cue ball rolling bad. Too long ago, I don't remember if it was a Valley cue ball or a replacement that broke.

I have played with one of the deliberately weighted balls a bunch of times but it never broke so I never saw inside it to know how it was weighted to roll bad. The surprise is how they get these to roll straight.
