Hello to all. Just curious if anyone has any
Idea how many cues Bill Stroud made after
He went out on his own? I recently purchased
A 1 of 1 from 1988 and got curious about
How many more of his cues are roaming around
Out there. I read he passed on not to long ago.
I'm sure hes missed by the many he influenced
And made cues for. R.I.P sir.

They are not super rare if that is what you are asking.

Bill made a lot of cues, I heard from Dave Kikel that he made 300 in one year.
Although there are a lot of Josswest cues out there they are still collectible and typically great playing cues.

I've been patiently waiting for a wrapless Josswest to appear on the wanted/for sale section but I'm now wondering if Bill Stroud made wrapless cues.

I was told he used either linen, or baby crocodile.

Thanks guys for the info
I knew it would be in the thousands.
With a 40+ year career and all!
I'm thinking of having mine refinished.
But not sure if that adds to or takes
Away from collectability. And I dont
Think they could save the cortland wrap.

Thanks for the helpful information. I knew he made wrapless but apparently not many. I can't play with a wrap due to a problem with the fingertips on my grip hand.

You could always make one wrapless by finishing over linen.

There's a wrap under that?
Yes Sir
Black linen. You should never have to change the handle if you don't have too.

It is easier if the whole butt is being refinished but can also be done by itself. Not all finishes shine the same.

That's interesting. It might be easier just to put a different wrap on it that would be less abrasive to my fingers than linen. If - as I suspect - I won't be able to find a Josswest wrapless I might do the next best thing.

Thanks for the information.

Another option would be.
Ask Joel Hercek about a lamb skin wrap. He's the only one I know who does it and he's very very good at it.
You can have any color you want, as long as it's black.
