One pocket question

actually two

why hasn't someone thought up a better way to break safely and
at the same time more powerfully

and a second question

why hasn't someone made the break more difficult by requiring the first shot be hit from the far rail or somewhere to reduce the advantage of the break

I like to have all the breaks when facing tough competition

tommy Rey used to play me 10 to 7
he beat me 50 times in a row on his break
I learned my lesson

I might be on the wrong forum for this question

IMHO, if there were a more effective break in one pocket, someone would have figure it out by now. Corey Deuel is a likely candidate.

As for restricting the cueball placement, negotiate it. One of the things I love about one pocket is its ease in handicapping and propping.

I would be saying the same thing fella, but at 76 and unable to get amongst
them,I have nothing better to do than ask stupid questions

I was enamored with the break Tom wirth showed with Judy going way back up table and leaving a long shot

I know that 4 hit and the pick souds unbeatable but Cliff slaughtered our hero with that,
I had Joey Barnes rob me one time ,but I was sure he out ran the nuts

I might have broke down when the heat was applied

Some even said I dogged it

I responded by selling my pool cue and blaming it for my
recent unpleasantness

Ever see the Accu-stats match with Corey breaking one pocket with a medium hard 8 ball style second or third ball break?

Grady was commentating and about lost his brain over that break.

Grady had expertise at the one rail kick break and he used it effectively against many opponents.

That’s the break I started with....One Eye Jesse in Detroit showed me.
..it was driving some guys nuts...they didn’t know how to crack.

PT 109 did it again

not only do you know the games well and have great stories ,butyou are able to find everything

Tom Wirth has hundreds of great ideas
if you haven't bought his cds or books you are missing out

His taching is by far the best.It is easy enough for a child to wade in and deep enough for a whale
to go deep

One Pocket is like a game of Chess played.with 16 Ball on a Pool Table, with Green Felt. Game can be over 1, 2, 3, or go on as long as a couple of hours.

A fourth ball break, with no split hit.

A third ball break hit the same way can work well too.

That's the break I use.

5 balls come out, no scratches.
Only downside is the occasional single ball floats out.
Otherwise you are froze to the pack.

That match defo springs to mind as far as unconventional break is concerned. Seeing a complete dismay on Daulton’s face is worth the price of the DVD alone. What is more surprising is that Corey won that match! It was 2000 Worlds (1P00-06 is the ref in the Accu-stats catalogue).

There are a dozen or so break varieties described in Winning One Pocket but all of them are considered weaker than the conventional break by the authors.

If one were able to consistently pot a ball on the break (in one’s pocket, of course), that would be the best break but that seems impossible to achieve

Never been a problem for me

I never got much of a chance to work on it. I always played winner break, so at
the most I only got to break one time per session, and that was if I won the flip.
I was so bad at it that if my opponent won the flip he would make me break
like you do in straight pool. Thank goodness I have my music career to fall back
on, keep those self addresses envelopes coming.
