I'm interested, but I already know I don't like conical shafts.

In my case, I know that shaft would never be used. I have played with enough shafts over 50 years to know I don't like conical shafts.

Are there any other options?

Like have all three shafts made with the same taper, but maybe different taper lengths and diameters?

Also, it was mentioned that the shafts may not be of the "highest quality" (my words...didn't scroll back to find the actual words Dean used) on the initial batch. In edit: Dean said "these will not feature the very clearest shafts".

What does it take to get the "highest quality" off the bat?

I'm not a "looks" man. The butt can be as plain as Jane and doesn't have to look fancy or shiny, but the shafts have to be of top quality materials and workmanship to make me happy.

I know Jack has the ability to do that.

if you are dead sure,then this cue probably won't be right for you

I would think one of them might be
you can always remove wood on a shaft

the taper will not be like the deano,but it will not be
a pro taper

no single cue is for everyone,but i am betting that people will love this cue

Of course you may want to wait,at your distance from us
it would cost too much shipping back and forth to get us to
get it right by trial and error

At this price,you get to test a few and turn a profit if you don't like it

If Jack gets active ,he will not be making anything under $1000 after this

by the way,you won one of those cheap cues, I missed your comments was it a decent cue?

We bought the lathes for turning the butts, and shafts from my good
friend, great player, and great cue builder Billy Stroud (Joss West).
when he purchased some new equipment. Billy also helped us, by
answering any questions we had plus giving us some great suggestions.
They had a pro taper of about 8" to 10", very gradually increasing.
We planned to offer 3 tapers, one conical with a 12 to 12.3 mm
one with the taper of the original and one with a longer pro taper,
but that could change. Our idea was to give a choice of different
feeling shafts. You can be sure that the cues will be top quality,

I'm quite sure the cue will be top quality.

I'm interested and have $500 burning a hole in my pocket.

The only thing that I need is more information up front and you just provided some. I called Dean, but didn't get an answer.

The Pro taper of 8 - 10 inches is fine with me.

A conical taper doesn't work for me, at all...even if it was made by Balabushka, under the supervision of Szamboti, and certified by Mosconi.

I could deal with a shaft with a longer Pro taper than the 8 -10.

So, one of the shafts is something that I know I would never use...the conical one.

Also, will the other two shafts be a standard 13mm, or something smaller? I would prefer at least 13mm, both for playing and for reselling if they don't suit me. At 13mm, they also could be turned down if somebody wanted something less.

The reason I'm asking is because if several people buy these cues and each of them don't like one, or more, of the shafts, they could then trade among themselves to get what best suited them. Assuming that they all have the same collars and collar diameters.

The butt of the cue doesn't concern me at all. I like a playing cue...not interested in looks.

Talk me into buying one. I'm easy. :)

Jack has been confusing me with shaft taper terminology

I am getting excited about this project because I think Jack will build himself
a nice cue and return all the ones he has borrowed

Black balled has been removed from the Black balled list and will be allowed to participate,
but now he is talking about a bicycle.What is this forum coming to?

Dean,

I haven't had a chance to hit a lot with it, but it is nicely built, solid, and looks nice.

The finish and wrap is very nice, too.

The shaft wasn't as slick as I keep mine, but after swiping it a couple of times with some 0000 steel wool, some 2000 sand paper, and a coat of Renaissance Wax it is clean, smooth, and slick.

You said the cue was kind of heavy and it does feel a bit heavy at first, when you pick it up, but it doesn't play "heavy". It must be because of the wood used to make it. I'm sure the entire cue is made of maple. All of my cues have ebony, rosewood, or some other heavier wood in the butts. My cues play "heavier", even though some of them maybe weigh less than the Lucky. My cues are a little more forward weighted than the Lucky, too.

The cue hits solid, but the tip is too hard for my liking. It could be because the tip is old and dry, or it could just be a bad tip. I will change it out for an Ultra Skin Soft to see what difference that makes.

These cues are nice beginner cues and I'm sure players of a higher caliber could "tune them up" to make them play even better.

I have no doubt I can make this cue a good "player" that will suit me, if I use it more and make a few adjustments along the way.

P.S., What pin will you be using on your upcoming cue venture? Will they be a 3/18-10, like is used on this Lucky?

So this was the thread that started it all.

It’s kind of crazy to see how it all played out.

Lies and deceit.

There was another thread where he promised to take a picture of Jack next to a lathe with his Jackpot cue. This was orchestrated in the beginning.

I just reading the entire thread from start to this point I am replying. Deanoc actually replied to Black-Balled on PAGE # 2 - POST #24, he also said to Black-Balled in so many words his opinion of Black-Balled, and Deanoc would not sell Black-Balled a Cue.

Did you read from post #1 to end of thread, if not, do. If you did maybe you should go read again every post from both Deanoc, and Jackpot to get a better understanding. I understood what they were dreaming about, what they were going to try, and accomplish, and how they were going to do it. Maybe that is because, I sometime read something several time to make sure I get the point.

Sorry you were confused, I was not, and never even look at this post went it started in 2019, as the title never caugh my attention.
