Why are stop shots easier than going forward or back a little?

I think this is the main reason a stop shot is relatively easy at all distances (in addition to the fact that we practice and play them often).

The CB has a small amount of top/bottom spin over a fairly large distance, especially with faster-speed shots, and the CB stops within a very short distance (or no distance at all) with a small amount of spin (or no spin).
Yes, another reason stop shots are easy is that longer shots (with greater speed) are more forgiving.

I suggest googling "stun run-through"

snooker players are the masters of this shot as they use it all the time......

a reverse type of stun through with draw is even harder to gauge, much harder, but not nearly as important although in theory you would think it would be equally as important as stun run through, go figure

pool especially on good equipment will allow slowly rolling forward, even more so on 7-8 footers, snooker on a 12 footer needs stun run through all day as you can't trust slow rolls

I highly suggest learning fundamentals from the snooker guys, their form makes even carom speciliasts look amateur
