Don't forget to swallow...

When I see these posts and people are in the mix saying they like this or that....and being critical of another, my very first thought is " what are they bringing to the table?".

Well, I think that TheKman brought a good laugh to the table, for one thing. Very surprised to see him banned for an obviously humorous response to a rather vacuous thread.

FWIW, I no problem with CJ; just think that the censure was over-the-top. The fanboy postings can get tedious, and there is nothing wrong with letting people mix it up a bit. We're all adults here.

If I were to guess, I think that some people just get annoyed with the creating a new thread to thank CJ instead of just posting in an existing one so you get repeatedly new threads that are basically the same thing.

It doesn't really phase me as you can always just skip over them if you don't want to read them.

We have a veritable buffet of wisdom, pot luck even....what have you brought aside from thinking someone's attempt at crude humor is a "good laugh"?

My vote for C.J.

It's been said before, if you don't like what he has to say why are
all the knockers reading and posting on threads pertaining to him.
He has always promptly answered all questions even if the don't
agree with him. Here is a champion of our favorite sport that we
can interact with one on one. I had a lot of questions about TOI
he could have said watch the video but instead he told me I could
show you very quickly what the problem is, and invited me to his
home to help me one on one. He said the room is perfect with cameras
and would have me on the right track in no time. (not a lesson as a
guest). Yea let's run this hustler scam artist off here.

"The game {of Life} has always been our teacher, hasn't it my friend."

My opinion is a bit biased because CJ has been such a good friend for so long and we traveled together in a few countries. In all of his posts CJ is only trying to help...strangers, at that. I never hear him ask anyone for anything. Any of you guys criticizing him for his valuable contributions seems ridiculous. It could be a case of improper venting. Ask yourself what's really bugging you.
You want a real reason to be mad at CJ, put up your dough, break the balls and try to fade what he puts on you.
Chalk a lot of it up to jealousy, Seige. "Japanese only", buddy
Keep it nice. Alfie

We've definately seen some of the finer things in the world together, Alfie. From the mountains of Aspen, to the Golden Temples of Japan, I'll always remember sitting on top of the pyramid in Tulum Mexico talking about some "inside knowledge". ;)

I'm almost done with your book and it's amazing how many of the same people we ran around with before we ever took our first trip. From the greatest pool hustlers/gamblers like "Jr" Weldon Rogers, to the worlds finest Bank Pool Players Eddie 'The Knoxville Bear' Taylor....not to mention all the "tournament players", "class acts", "tush hogs," "knockers," "nits," "stick up men," "high rollers," "short stops," and all the flamboyant characters in between (I'm not sure where to categorize your brother Jack;))

It takes all kinds to make up this world and I'm glad to have the opportunity to meet some of the premium characters..... I'll always remember, Alfie, you have "done what you've said, and said what you've done," and that's the quality of character I respect the most....especially from a "seasoned rug merchant" like yourself. "The game {of Life} has always been our teacher, hasn't it my friend." :thumbup2:

Mr. Alfie,
I like your post. I think that it a great part of your life to be able to say you traveled with Mr. CJ, around the world. And you are right, let whoever put their money up and play Mr. CJ and see how they like it. I would love to see that happen. Thanks again for a great post!

You've been invited ~ for free ~ to this banquet on knowledge.
It doesn't really matter who the person is or whether they are a pro, instructor..etc.

You have a feast before you. But....what do some do? Complain how much they hate that free feast before them.

So when I see these haters, my first reaction is to look at their contributions. What "worth" are they that they feel justified in having such strong "opinions"..?

So how should I feel and react when upon inspection..the contributions are such as "nice cue", "Kamui chalk costs too much" and other chit chatty posts which are just fluff? What have you enriched the community with?

I know, people are going to say "but he asked". Yes he did.
You will at least have a clear picture of what is going on in my thought process when I remove the detractors.

I haven't really got a use for someone whose best post is "bump for a nice que". I do have much room for people that are doing their best to help and represent this sport though.

Don't forget to scream "Free Speech" as I kick you out.

Mr. Wilson,
I like this post 100%. I thank you for the great job you do on and for the AZB family and the forums. I don;t know when you can get some rest. Because you are always working making AZB a better place for members, members families, fans, guest, and everybody else. Thank you, Mr. Wilson.
Many Regards,

Alfie and I went all the way up to the top of that pyramid util we saw a 3'/3' jagged hole and a sign "No One Allowed Beyond This Point"......Alfie looked at me with a grin and said "you know we're going to have to go up there" (like there was any other choice)..... sure enough we climbed up the wall, through this hole into a little room at the very top of the pyramid that had a window and signs that looked like they were tracking the stars or checking out UFO's....we couldn't be certain. There was some weird hieroglyphics carved on the wall, I could just vaguely make out the inscription.....it looked like t...0..!.....hmmm, ;)

If the comment was so offensable to get him banned, shouldn't the 'Don't Forget To Swallow' been deleted from the thread?

Whoa. . . not sure how this came to be about me and my posts. I've not laid claim to any "pearls of wisdom". But since you asked. . .

I post at the less-than-prolific rate of .12 posts per day. I've started exactly one thread in my four years on AZ (link here). It recognizes two AZ members who did outstanding work on my home table, and recommends them to others in my area. Hardly enough to make me a leading light of the AZ community. . . but you will hopefully agree that I've offered at least some positive input.

As to the original issue of the ban: when I read TheKman's post I responded to the humor and largely ignored the (implicit) insult. Judging from your actions, I suspect that you did the opposite. Reasonable people can respond differently, and will accordingly disagree.

AZ is your corner of the internet, and you plainly have the right to police it as you see fit. I'd just hate to see an ethos of "say something nice or say nothing at all" take over. Doesn't make for a very lively conversation.

Sorry, I see it in a different light. Your direct comment was that this thread was "vacuous". I've got a nice fat vocabulary and could tell you what the word means without having to google it.
Webster's dictionary ( just for factual basis ) says : expressing or characterized by a lack of ideas or intelligence; inane; stupid: a vacuous book. .

Using your own words, again...you've added constructively to the forum just once...and 3 years ago?? *BUT* its OK to pop on in a thread you deem "vacuous" and give kudos to someone who just got banned for a vulgar analogy you found humorous.

Anything you care to add for context?

It isn't just say something nice or nothing at all....it also applies to don't be a jerk and try and make things that are already bad...worse.

Like I said, when someone is negative, I check to see what they add.

Mr. Wilson, I'm really not trying to provoke you. You asked for one example of a positive posting, and I provided one. Never said it's the only one-- but that's really not the point.

For the record, I never gave "kudos" to TheKman. I simply expressed a dissenting opinion on the decision to ban him for one brief, pithy, humorous comment. I didn't (and don't) see that as either "being a jerk" or "making a bad situation worse."

I'll stop now. I hope that we can simply agree to disagree with no hard feelings.

Good thread Lock.CJ is an asset to the forum and needed some support. You also are an asset to this forum as you add a lot of positive energy here.

IMO everyone is welcome here even if some of us have to sit in the corner for a while.MR.Wilson is also an asset to the forum.I am not big on rules and order but this forum would be completely out of control without a forum mod.

Humor is great but before you crack that joke, look around to see who is playing on the table next to you.

After, that other thread was posted about a champion, and great all around person who is an asset to the AZB forum and family. I saw fit to post a positive and good thread about the ESPN pool champion. And captain of the USA pool team. Not many people around the world can lay claim to that position! Much less being the ESPN champion. And several other championships.

If and when you say something good about a pool player, it looks like it offends some people. For what reason I will never know. They simply like to hammer a person. I would really like to know the real reason for that....
And if they think he cannot play good pool why don't they play him some pool!!!

I appreciate your kind words about this thread. And I thank you for your input on Mr. CJ. Positive all the way.
