LOL.

Yah sure.
Except they left out one big factor.
The left took a 2 1/2 reaming in the ass by the media concerning Russian collusion, obstruction and impeachment.

Mueller failed to produce. The media failed to produce and was proven a liar.

Now they are lying to themselves.

"Trump slump" hits big media

Top news executives tell Axios that a real "Trump slump" is hitting digital, cable and more.

Why it matters: The shock factor around President Trump's unplanned announcements, staff departures, taunting tweets and erratic behavior is wearing off, and media companies are scrambling to find their next big moneymaker.

Driving the news: Executives tell Axios that Trump fatigue is very real: Interest in political coverage overall is down, which is spurring investments in other beats, like technology and the global economy.

Democrats don't appear to be the lifeline media companies are hoping can fill the gap for diminished Trump interest. Executives say they expect this week’s debate ratings to be nothing like the ratings for the 2016 Trump debates.
Be smart: Part of the problem is that 2020 Democrats don't have a knock-out media star to drive interest in the election. To date, the Democrats' biggest media attraction has been Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who isn't running for president.

Other candidates split the spotlight in the crowded Democratic primary field.
By the numbers: Digital demand for Trump-related content (number of article views compared to number of articles written) has dropped 29% between the first 6 months of the Trump presidency and the most recent 6 months, according to data from traffic analytics company Parse.ly.

Evidence that Trump's social media star power was also beginning to wear off surfaced last month, when Axios reported that his tweets were receiving less than half the engagement that they got when he first took office.
Similar trends are happening in more traditional media settings:

In March, New York Times COO Meredith Kopit Levien told Axios during a panel at SXSW that the paper's subscription "Trump Bump” ended in mid-2018.
In December, media research firm MoffettNathanson found that live news network ratings were down "in the -10% to -20% range" for the better part of 2018. Overall, the firm found that ratings around TV news coverage overall began to decline after the 2016 election.
Cable TV networks, which still reach a majority of Americans with political news coverage, began pulling back on Trump campaign rallies late last year because they weren't driving ratings, according to Politico.
Our thought bubble: The Trump bump that supported the news industry through difficult economic times is not sustainable, and media companies that were once reliant on politics coverage to get through tough times are going to have to pivot.

Keep your head down and admire the shot.

But 'the Trump slump' includes coverage of PDJT himself. That's why even Fox stopped airing his rallies in full. Their ratings were down and it cost them money.

How can this be? Is he not the Kwisatz Haderach after all?

What Sade said: 'It's never.... as good... as the first time...." A common problem with novelty acts. And the ultimate sin for a showman-- growing boring.

The point of modern propaganda isn't only to misinform or push an agenda. It is to exhaust your critical thinking, to annihilate truth.

All part of the Mueller and media failure.

Much like AZB Trump slump.

Rush Limbaugh: The media is losing their audience because they 'lied' and Dems are 'boring'

By Victor Garcia | Fox News

Debate expert Robert Barnett on the 'three audiences' for the first Democratic presidential debate

Robert Barnett is a veteran of 10 national presidential campaigns.

The media is now paying for "lies" they've made and are losing their audience because of their coverage of President Trump, according to conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh.

"What has happened is the people are tired of being either lied to or set up for big things and let down. They just don’t trust ’em anymore," Limbaugh said on his radio show Tuesday.

The radio host was talking about an Axios piece titled "'Trump slump' hits big media" that claimed the president's "shock factor" is wearing thin with audiences and that "media companies are scrambling to find their next big moneymaker."

CLINTON SAYS SHE REGRETS CALLING TRUMP SUPPORTERS 'DEPLORABLES'

The report also claimed Democrats "don't have a knock-out media star to drive interest in the election."

"The fact is, they’re admitting that the Democrats — the lone hope to bring back hope and salvation to America to get rid of Donald Trump — are boring to people," Limbaugh said.

There’s no reduced interest in Trump. The difference is, they’ve been lying about Trump for two years, they’ve been promising things to their viewers and readers that haven’t happened.
— Rush Limbaugh

Limbaugh believes that interest in Trump is still strong, arguing the president is not "boring" but that the media outlets like CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times have lost credibility by making 'promises' to their audience they've been unable to deliver on.

"There’s no reduced interest in Trump. The difference is, they’ve been lying about Trump for two years, they’ve been promising things to their viewers and readers that haven’t happened," Limbaugh argued. "The Trump bump that supported the news industry was nothing but a series of wild hopes and dreams of being able to get rid of the guy. And they’ve all blown up. They’re not gonna be able to get rid of Trump. Trump’s gonna be on the ballot in 2020. They failed."

Limbaugh went on to highlight the difference between his radio program and what mainstream media outlets have been doing over the past three years.

"What isn’t sustainable is fake news. What isn’t sustainable is out-and-out lying. I speak of things that are threatening the country. They speak of things that are threatening the country. The difference is they made it all up," Limbaugh said. "They invested over three years in fake news story after fake news story after fake news story, and it all added up to what?"

Cool theory, but the Axios piece says it began by mid-2018 for some.

It's hard to say as the relentless hourly twitter bombardment by PDJT has seemed to alter space and time, but iirc, the Mueller thing was March of this year. The 'bump' had subsided well before then.

What they aren't mentioning is that the Fox rw entertainment channel ratings 'Trump slump' decline was evident early in 2018.

Quote:
For now, here's January 2018 and comparisons to January 2017.

Primetime

FNC: 2.46 million viewers (down 14 percent); 476,000 adults 25-54 (down 16 percent)
MSNBC: 1.86 million viewers (up 61 percent); 412,000 adults 25-54 (up 51 percent)
CNN: 927,000 viewers (down 20 percent); 329,000 adults 25-54 (down 15 percent)

Total Day

FNC: 1.94 million viewers (down 17 percent); 308,000 in 25-54 (down 17 percent)
MSNBC: 1 million viewers (up 55 percent); 224,000 in 25-54 (up 45 percent)
CNN: 713,000 viewers (down 10 percent); 237,000 in 25-54 (down 4 percent)
Quote:
As of May 2019, Fox News [... had] almost 2.39 million primetime viewers in that month.
That's down from January 2018, and almost 500,000 less than in January 2017. Good enough to still lead the pack by a good amount, but down.

Just as they found their ratings when covering PDJT's mid-term rallies were down, during the home stretch in October of last year. The aftermath of Mueller's report had nothing to do with the above.

My guess is this sh!t storm of a reality show has exhausted much of the viewership. That, or it's the paradoxical banality of evil.
