Based on your posts, I believe you more tech-savvy than I when it comes to computers, I think linux would be a breeze for you to install or go with the dual boot option(make sure you install windows first or it messes up the bootloader), I have done it a few times on different computers, pretty straightforward. There are a ton of distros, for the most part they are pretty much all free. Many work right upon install unlike back in the day, no having to search for drivers and such.

Zorin is based to look likes windows GUI, I personally like korora(though not updated anymore).

I put Ubuntu on my laptop about 5 years ago, and I have had 5 years of loving my laptop since. I don't game on it, and if I am writing programs I log into work and do it there so I have nothing bad to say about linux. It runs really fast and seems to have good printer support as well these days. I am running an older version, just can't find any reason to upgrade it. I have a win10 pc at work I have been using for over a year now, I use firefox on it as well and I enjoy it for the most part. The worst thing about Win10 at home on my wife's laptop is sometimes it will hit 100% on disk usage for no apparent reason and I'll have to adjust settings until it calms down.

Linux on a desktop or in the consumer market isn't really anything more than a novelty. I've set it up for a lot of people to use, but do not support it....yea, they're on their own with it. It's perfectly fine for a web browsing, facefarting, email machine....but for what I do on my big workstation, its a complete and utter hassle... I have absolutely nothing against it....heck, all my web servers are running some form of CentOS or Debian, I wouldn't run anything else on a server....but its just very impractical for the needs of the 'power user' group.

I have one of the last ones made. Bought it too soon. 6 months later they came out with a version that could share the screen wirelessly with the tv. Been using the crap out of it fir 10 years. Even broke it once.

I was looking at your link.
Perhaps I will give it a try.
Finding drivers used to be one of the biggest hold backs.
Just have to see what there is for my Dell Precision. I suspect there will be issues as some of it is propitiatory. Finger scanner, Control Vault, RAID etc.

Keep your head down and admire the shot.

many of those Linux distros can be live cd's -
download a couple of them and burn them to disk for live boot -
boot em up to play with them. you don't have to install -
get a copy of Linux mint and a MX Linux copy -

Mint is my preference for customer deployments. Good embedded driver support and the GUI is very user-friendly. Good repository for applications. Makes a wonderful web browsing, facefarting, emailing machine....I think I mentioned that already.

Most annoying updates for WNDWS 10 PRO are 1903, 1906, and 1909.
#1906 will actually merge with the way you use your computer.
A.I.?
After that everything works well, very well.
Major Problem I had, couldn't use my Photo Software.

Out of Ubuntu, Lubuntu, Fedora, Korora, zorin, and centOS, and a couple others, Mint was my least favorite, also it wouldn't pick up many drivers on some of my older computers. Mint has been top ten on distrowatch for years, so obviously my experience differs from others.

What interface you prefer?

What do you do on your big workstation and what is a power user exactly,?

Just curious, why not set people up with a dual boot so they can use both windows and linux separately at their leisure?

Several things, atleast what I'll divulge publicly....some premiere/audition, a lot of software testing (windows based no less)....several security systems monitored on it, again, windows based software......and of course a lot of web browsing & emailing.

I don't bother setting up dual booters for people unless asked. Most want *nix because they're too cheap to pop for a Winders license....although if they want w10, I can get it for them free using the digital entitlement licensing....M$ is still giving those out if you're crafty enough....so I milk a few bucks for the license and then the usual fee for a reload.

Mint is built on the latest stable release of Ubuntu, their driver support is on-par with eachother. For clients, as a rule, if FF works, they can care less.

I can definitively say, and this was about 3 years ago before I settled on Korora, that mint wouldn't pick up a good chunk of my drivers, no problems when using Ubuntu at that time, tried the various interfaces as well, same issue.

LOL....I still 'unofficially' use the loader for 7 and many others....after 10 years, M$ never did whack DAZ loader activations in any updates. I've never used KMS, as its gravy to activate Pro legally using DEL's....but if that ceases, I'll use it on in-house stuff. I never put hacked activations on a client machine, thats just asking for trouble.
