1. The cue ball goes on the head spot. If the head spot is blocked, it goes on the center spot. (The vast majority of pool players have no idea that the center spot exists.) In either case, you can shoot at the loose object ball.

2. All 15 rack and you have ball in hand behind the line. You're screwed.
