If it's leather, use regular black shoe polish: wax polish, not liquid. Do not use mink oil on black leather.
If it's vinyl, just use Armor All..

That's what I was thinking. It is leather. Can't imagine it being any different than polishing and buffing a pair of black leather shoes

You asked about "cleaning" a black leather case- Shoe polish is NOT a cleaning agent- is is a polishing agent. Start with a top quality leather cleaner/conditioner from Meguiar or Lexol. If you then need to add more richness/color to the case/ then consider a top quality leather polish, but do the cleaning process first!!

Bingo... after a lot of years of abuse my jack Justis case was looking pretty shabby. I used brown kiwi on my case multiple before putting it in storage and it looked like new again.,
