What do we look like, Travel Agents or something. Just teasin ya Bud.

Thats a toughy for that far off. You'll be flying out of Finland. Can you get a direct or have to connect in London first. Probably have to make connecting flights once in the USA. That is something that you will have to do on your end first.

How many days will you be staying. Going to visit a few other places after or a quick in and out.

A room at a decent hotel in Canada is approx $135 to $150 per night. Probably cheaper in the USA unless hotels in the general vicinity raise rates for special occasions.

Figure on ground transport from airports to hotels, and then hotels to the event daily.

2 trips a day or will you be going back to your room to rest and freshen up.

How many times a day do you eat? Prices for food in the USA at a half decent restaurant is reasonable. Are you going to plan on having a good breakfast and then snack on hot dogs and burgers while at the event, or will you be leaving to have a good meal at supper.

Set aside some extra for fun money, tee shirts, pool, items from vendors while there.

Seems to me that if you are going to come all this way for a great pool event, you really don't want to cheap out and way under budget yourself or you may regret it later. You don't have to live like a King either, but somewhere in between if you are taking what you might consider, a trip of a life time.

Can you get seat sales from where you are. That would be a big help.

You have a lot of work to do first before anyone here can help to give you a definitive answer.

Your airfare is going to be the kicker to begin with. Anything else seems to be a bit on the minor side.

Where I am in Canada, I can go to the PI or various places in Europe and close by for anywhere from $1200.00 to $2000.000.

For your airfare from Finland, depending, a few days or more depending on how much of a holiday that you want, I would say, 4 K would be the very low end and I would plan on putting away at least 5 K for your journey.

Make sure that your debit card is usable in the USA and bring a credit card for an emergency.

Do you have Medical Insurance, either thru your work or that you can get extra travel insurance with someone like Blue Cross.
Not saying anything bad will happen to you, but even a bad stomach flu and a trip to the ER in the States will cost you.

If it doesn't cost that much, you come home with money in your pocket. Bonus eh.

PS. Don't be eating any hot spicy stuff that they like to eat in certain places in the USA, if yer not used to it. That will cost you a missed day at the DCC because you're sitting on the John.

If you want to attend like many the cheapest would be to rent a car and sleep in it in the parking lot.

The hotel I think is about $125 to $150 per night. If you book for the whole event there may be a discount.

Many will register to play in the banks just for the pass to attend all events instead of buying a daily pass.

Food cost is what you make it to be. If you rent a car you can drive to a resturant in the area and get about anything you want. There may be a problem with car rental as you may need a international drivers license.

I wouldn't share a room with a stranger as you are dealing with pool bums that may accidentally permanently borrow something from you.

If you are looking for vendors and don't want to spend as much time I would recommend the SBE. It is like a condensed version with a lot of action in the practice area.

You can get the entire event rate which is 99 per night, so 900-1000 depending on how many days. Food will run you between 500-1000 depending on how, when and what you want to eat.

Other than that you will just have your expenses due to playing, gambling, spectating and souvenirs/purchases. I would think that if you budgeted 3-5K you would be able to do anything you want to do and enjoy the event.

Ktown-D is correct. The hotel is $1000 for the 9 days, including taxes. I split it with a friend. Food is outrageous at the casino. The "buffet" is $20 for breakfast and $35 for lunch or dinner. The steakhouse was good, but overpriced. I paid $40 for a good ribeye, that would be $25 anywhere else. The do have the Corner Cafe, with decent food at bargain prices. It's a 20-30 minute drive into Louisville where you have tons of food options.

May I add a suggestion? Food cost are high at the DCC so I bring a cooler ( you could buy one here) and stock it with lunchmeat, cheese, fruit, and beer, etc. Ice is provided free at the hotel. While a meal at the hotel is nice, I find a trip to the cooler fits my style and taste.

There is a town a few miles from the hotel and a trip to restock the cooler would be easy. Maybe buy someone dinner in town for a chance to buy groceries.

Go to the Derby City web site and you can determine the exact cost for the hotel and tournament passes.

Its 1000 USD for the hotel for all 9 days.

Food is 5 USD per meal right outside the tourney room (its a special concession just for the pool players). That 5 buys you either a burger, pulled pork, or chicken fingers. It gets real old after a few days, but is by far the cheapest food option in the casino.

Tourney entry fees and buyback are listed on the www.dcctickets.com page.

Mini tourney entry fees are also listed there.

Table time for gambling is 5 USD per half hour. The tables are coin operated.

Exactly right Joe! I brought a cooler too! Been carting it around this whole trip, since I left FL on Jan. 1st. Plus, there are refridgerators in all rooms at the Horseshoe.

The nut here is fifteen hundred to two K, all day long. If your there early, your much more able to spot new talent. Only way ta go, is to get the nine day room, bring a car and a cooler. Rental car split, should be cheaper than eating three meals a day at the casino.
