The new casino is *big* and makes the whole place unrecognizable to long time attendees.

Eating venues look like a poor lot and yes, the ice cream shoppe is gone.

Lots of the guys look older now... but then of course, so do I, lol.

Good to see many familiar faces but there are a slew of young guys I’ve never seen before.

It seems to me that many of the Europeans are MIA and I wonder if it has anything to do with the demise of the 14.1 event. After all, not much bank pool and 1pocket across the pond.

I won my first round 1pocket match, am sipping a drink at the casino bar, and will shortly be headed to the steakhouse for dinner with two buddies.

I personally do not find the redo eating opportunities so good but the casino is purdy.

In this shot the entrance to the main tournament room is to the right and the steakhouse to the left. In the foreground is the new location for the tournament office.

How’s the parking this year? I’ll be coming up later in the week
Plenty of it. Fwiw I thought the food options are pretty good. Actually way better than previous years. If you don't have the cash to eat at the steak house there is some tasty stuff that's reasonably priced for a place like this and you get big portions.

What-ever-do-u-mean sir? 14.1 tournaments are a breeze to run:idea::eek:uttahere:

Jeff
They are if you don't mind ending somewhat after the nine ball finals, which puts it at sometime after dawn on Sunday. :(

The problem for the tournament was that most of the finalists would go deep in the nine ball and Those Who Set The Schedules think 14.1 is some kind of shoe size. The problem with the qualification phase was that the limited number of tables at the Horseshoe (modest convention area) meant that the 14.1 tables kept getting sidetracked to one pocket.

Unfortunately, you are 100% correct.

Do you know the probability of 14.1 being added back to the event any time soon?

The only way I see for them to have the 14.1 back is to start it earlier then before. With the 14.1, and the 10 ball, and of course the main event, there is almost too much for players that want to do all of the events.

They ran the 14.1 Challenge and final 14.1 single knockout tournament in the middle of running all the main tournaments (Banks, One Pocket, 9-ball). For the last few years, the 14.1 Tournament had to wait until all those not still in the other tournament(s) could open up their time to play in the 14.1. After the last two years, it got to be that the 14.1 finals didn't get played, due to the main tournaments ending so late. There was even a year when Dennis Orcullo was in the 14.1 Finals vs Max Eberle, and Dennis (who was going to lose anyway) was spending too much time watching the 9-ball final matches (Alex P. was playing), making the 14.1 Finals a bit of joke instead of the grand finale that it was supposed to be. Dennis actually threw in the towel before Max could run the last several balls for the win.

Ice cream shop was gone last year as well. Best place to eat on the entire property

Is the casino on a boat still or did they move it up on the land now

Fatboy missed this year, I’ll be there next year

Dry land. It literally starts outside the tournament room. If you exit the main room and head towards the elevator, a 10 foot detour will place you in the chair of a slot machine.

Thx that answers the question. That “boat” law was stupid.

However........I bet the casino is now “raking” more pool economy money out of the action room than ever.....

Thanks for the answer,
Fatboy :)
