No offense but are people really concerned with cue prices right now?? FARTHEST thing from my mind. I don't see myself hitting a ball for a while and really couldn't care less for the time being. That being said, depending on how long the econ. downturn lasts there could be a lot of cues pop up for sale. Already seeing it on OBM.

No offense taken. I'm maintaining as normal a lifestyle as possible considering the circumstances. Probably easier for me than some because I'm retired. Biggest risk is probably inflation from the 2 trillion dollar stimulus bill which will shrink my retirement check and savings but I grew up dirt poor and have seen tougher times than this.

I used to jog daily in a park near my house 7 days a week 52 weeks a year. I'm still jogging in the park daily.

I used to lift at the gym 4 days a week. I bought some equipment and work out at home 4 days a week.

I used to play pool daily - mostly 14.1 - at home. Still play pool daily at home.

I used to read and post about pool on this website. Still reading and posting about pool on this website.

Surely everyone has heard the terms “supply and demand”.
Well, not everyone really understands this & it’s about to happen.

The supply of available cues right now isn’t going to change one iota.
However, the amount of discretionary income to buy them is shrinking.

When the economy goes into a downturn due to a recession or market
correction, the supply of disposable discretionary income proportionately
suffers. So there are less buyers in general and more demanding ones
that expect more of a deal or bargain when cues do not sell fast or the
buyer is asking a price of thousands of dollars. That is just the economic
facts of life. Since the current supply of cues isn’t going to reduce but the
number of buyers with the disposable cash is, prices will suffer. People
either hold onto their cues or take less than what they originally wanted.

Sure, there are some cues that will sell fast and at the asking price too
but that is usually with a prominent name cue-maker and the cue has
been attractively priced. We’ve all seen unrealistic sellers that keep
lowering the sale price just like we’ve seen a cue sell in a few hours.

When it is a nice cue and priced to sell fast, it has a chance to do that
but with COVID-19 and the devastation to our economy and globally as
well, people just have higher priorities with their money than a cue whereas
just over a month ago, there weren’t any cases in the USA. Cues go to the
back of the line when you are fighting to remain afloat and so like with every
urgent situation, there could be some highly motivated sellers of cues in the
future. Only time will tell but the worse things get, less cues will get purchased.

Truth is Truth, but your observation is on the money. The Cues for sale in our For Sale Section, would have 7 to 10 years ago been SOLD FAST.

A Tascarella would have been gone faster then a person could write or list a Tascarella.

I tend to see people bump the same sticks, chalks, racks, etc. with the same pricing for years.

It will be interesting to watch the prices on that forum as the economy shrinks nationwide. I suspect people will maintain current prices for a while and be reluctant to drop them but if this goes on for much longer reality will set in.

I also suspect a lot of people who paid thousands for a cue recently are now upside down.

What about those people listing 10 cues who wont even buy gold status.
They are charging thousands on each cue.

The idiots are the ones that list 10 cues, post them all at the same time in different threads, and then bump each thread on the same day.
