pool is history in America, the hobby leagues will be going strong, the pro side of the game is at a all time low, what few events their are are paying nothing. even regonal events like a tournment at Hardtimes last week paid nothing, in 1987 gas was 76cents/gallon and a motel room was $25-$40. if you finished 8-12th you still would have won $300-$500 back then. I went to lunch with Nick Varner 2 weeks ago, he saw how I saw it, the $$$ list for the toip pro's is the same now as the mid 80's a couple guys in the low 6-figure and top ten making at least $40,000. Back in 88, $40,000 was ok, certainly not like snooker but at least a good player could go on the road and be ok.

Nick said "pool prize money hasnt adjusted for inflation" he is right. And its almost impossible to be a professional player now, only a few guys like Shane play good enough to make it in America playing pool. I think the same thing will happen over the next 20 years in the UK with snooker, it will still be there, the players will just make less $$$, less TV coverage. It will thrive in China cause the kids see Ding getting out of a Ferrari paid for by play snooker. Wow, how strong is that?!?!?!.

Luckily I've not bet Ronnie to win a tournament only to find out that he pulled out but I have put him down for wins on Event Predicter only to find out Ronnie never turned up and that has bust the brackets selections.LOL.

It was odds on that Mark Allen would be the first player to give his take on this news from Barry Hearn.

So Barry Hearn has turned to table tennis and I don't know why he doesn't do more for Pool as the Mosconi Cup is a fantastic event.Maybe one day he will.

Barry has been a busy busy bee today - 01-02-2013, 03:23 PM

http://www.sportinglife.com/darts/ne...-expands-to-10

Barry has extended the Premier League Darts to 10 players and i wonder if he will do something similar to the Premier League Snooker ?

Barry runs Leyton Orient FC and their physio treated Michael Van Gerwin for his injuries at the Darts.

Barry Hearn is never out of the news for long.

Just a matter of time before Barry Hearn corners the China market but I think he needs Ronnie O'Sullivan to achieve this.

Sky TV extends PDC deal - 03-07-2013, 06:31 PM

Premier League Darts: Week 5.

Barry Hearn gave an interview saying they've signed up a 5 year deal with Sky TV for the Darts promising more tournaments, more prize money etc :

http://www.sportinglife.com/other-sp...tends-pdc-deal

I was thinking about The Snooker Premier League etc & the Sky TV deal hoping that the Stephen Lee inquiry doesn't make them pull the plug.

In 5 more years Barry will control 50% of sport in Europe except football, F-1, MotoGP and tennis. Thats my guess anyways, the huge built out established things its too late but all the new sport, Barry will have his fingers in. And He does a good job.

Leyton Orient :

http://www.sportinglife.com/football/league-one/table

Barry Hearns football team Leyton Orient sit 10th in the League One just off the Play Off places. He knows the side haven't got the fan base to fill the stadium but if he got to ground share with West Ham he could easily fill the stadium in the summer months with to Boxing fights with SkyTV backing & rock concerts etc.If I was West Ham I'd give it serious thoughts on ground sharing but that just doesn't happen over here with football teams.
