...lathe out of Tex Zimmerman's old shop: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/tls/3648086960.html
It would be cool to see on display somewhere, perhaps in a poolroom. A plaque paying homage, and a Zimmerman cue chucked up between centers would be a nice touch.

LOL, it looks primitive but apparently it worked for him

Why would he have to be a wizard to build a cue on it???
With a 2" spindle bore and morse taper tailstock he was probably able to do all he really needed to do. The "bed" looks like it's at least 6 feet, so getting a cue between centers wasn't an issue.
If I really wanted to, I could build a simple cue with that lathe alone. There are cue builders in the Philippines turning on very similar setups, and lets not forget that Abe Rich built all his cues on a wood lathe.
Maybe not ideal, but it can be done.
Don't forget, Rambow's 'lathe' didn't even have a chuck.
Though many are convinced you must have highly specialized equipment
to build a cue - the only tool you must have is a brain that understands
how to put a cue together.
