I think the "hall of fame" is less about who is actually in it and more about the dinner event itself. It is a nice thing for people to do to promote the game and they have fun at it. I've always felt the same way about the baseball hall of fame. If we are talking about real deserving hall of famers who were legends of the game, we'd only have 30 or 40 people in the baseball hall as far as I'm concerned. So, if we realize what the real purpose of the ceremony is about, I think who is inducted isn't all that important (within reason, of course). Eventually everybody will get in.

Additions to Pete Margo's record

Thanks, Charlie. Somehow those didn't come up in searches of the Ursitti archive. By the way, that Pete had lower finishes at times in the final 16 is not negative. Anyone looking at the full field (of fifty or so players at times) would be astonished by the number of legendary players involved.

See you next month!

Home page of Pete's website . . .

http://www.petermargo.com/

. . . indicates that if you click on his Biography option you'll be able to read about "where he is now" which I interpret to mean that you'll be able read something about his present activities, whether he still plays, etc. but there's nothing at all like that about his present life. What gives?

Last I heard about him many years ago was that he had a successful chain of video rental shops (before the advent of Netflix and the Internet in general ruined that kind of business).
