Wrap to Wrapless

Why is it so Taboo to cut a wrapped cue and make it wrapless? If you had a wrapped cue that was warped and needed the handle replaced it would be ok to have a good repair guy replace it right? Why would it be so bad to just replace it with NO wrap?

If the cue is a very high end cue, then maybe. But if it isn't something special, the cost would be prohibitive. Might be more than the cue is worth. something to think about. It really is quite a lot of work
