Feel like I am in a frickin war sometimes...lol. Three large pool rooms have gone under in the past year here in St. Louis. I know of two others that might also go under. Have I rambled enough yet? lol.
Hey Craig, when did your Dad open Cue&Cushion?

Isn't your room currently the oldest operational pool room in St.Louis?

Thanks for your responce in advance, and have a great night!!!!

Whiteoak,

If your the only show in town, then yes you will be able to survive!!!!!
Expecially if the nearest pool hall is a hour away.

Alcohol isnt a must, unless your in a area that has several pool halls, that serve alcohol, then obviously you need to cater to the mass's so they will come to your place.

Being able to provide top notch service and equipment is what gets the type of players you want. If you have good tables, keep them clean, clean the balls before the are given out, provide friendly service, a good family enviroment, then you will get people flocking to your place.

I would rather goto a place that has excellent quipment and keeps thier place clean and provides a good atmosphere, than a place that sells beer.

Beer is for bars!

The place i frequent, is a restuarant / bar / pool hall. It usta be a full restaurant, and still serves the full menu, and has plenty of tables to eat at. It still has its bar. And it has 17 Diamond tables. Which usta be the section next to the restaurant.

I dont go there to drink, I go to shoot pool, and get some dinner.

I usta goto the pool hall right down the road litterally 1mile. But the atmosphere has changed so badly, and the tables are crappy, all the tables have dead rails, and the cloth is way over due for a change. Plus the ball and tables rarely get cleaned. And the price is the same for table rates.

So its basically a no-brainer on where to go.

We opened in 1966....My dad bought out the former owner that had it two years I believe. I am not sure when Affton Billiards opened, we might be the oldest but I am not sure. Will have to investigate that.

Craig - Saint Louis MO - Cue & Cushion Billiards -

Now celebrating our 50th year in business! Remember, you can help your local room survive or post about it later that it went under.

Since 1966- Family owned and family friendly
