Hello I like retipping my own cues. Often times there is a little glue leftover on the ferrule. How do you clean the ferrule?

Thank you!

It's a real pain, what kind of glue do you use?

The best way to clean it is to not get glue on the ferrule to begin with. Use less glue

400 grit wet sand - use light pressure so you don't take off ferrule material

First, clean the ferrule before you do the tip work making sure the ferrule is nice before any glue work is done. Then wipe down the ferrule/tip when you install it. And finish the process with fine paper after trimming the tip

I put a wrap of masking tape on the ferrule. I thought this was common practice.
I do the same. The video I watched told me to leave a small gap. So there is a little glue where the gap is. Makes more sense to me to leave no gap though. I think I will do that next time.
