This wood is thermally modified , to add stabilization and beauty . This is the best you can get for stabilized wood, without using acrylic impregnation. I have bought and sold lumber for 30yrs. I believe this wood to be of very high quality........the figure varies , as in all wood . But the density, the tight grain, and the tone of this wood is outstanding , and it is finish planed on all sides . 1.5 x 1.5 x 19L..................$18 I sprayed the wood lightly with alcohol to show the grain.
